What do you do with spam?

On your forum, do you hard delete spam or move it to a different forum, like a trashcan?

I normally delete the posts/threads so they won't be included in post counts.

Normally delete, however I sometimes save it because on one forum I used to have, I had it set up so that when multiple spam words are caught from topics in that category, it puts them in the mod queue. Works for me! 🙂

I usually hard delete to avoid the post count looking spammy and it is a lot neater. However if I moderate on a forum, I move it to a hidden forum.

We have a code to where "Deleting" posts actually put them straight to the trash can now. And we mostly just trash all spam. 🙂

I did this with my SMF Forum, it's called in the Settings 'Recycling' 🙂

Ah with Zetaboards we don't have that feature. 😛

Depends on the forum I'm moderating, but the most frequent type of system I've used is moving spam into a separate category that members can't see.

I hard delete them all. But before I do, I log and ban all associated email accounts and IP's. I even go as far to ban whatever email service they use so they can't try signing up again with a slightly different email.
