What are the things you expect from your moderators/community team? Do you require posting or for them to "check in" each day? What exactly do you require from your moderators in order for them to stay on the team? How long before they stop doing what is required before you fire them?
I expect them to be a good face for the community. Active, friendly, and professional people. I don't require them to post every day as it should be something they do without being told. To stay on the team all you would need is a positive attitude and readiness to accomplish more and achieve. If they haven't done their duties for about a week to two weeks I may or may not choose to fire them.
It is a care by case basis on whether or not to fire them. I expect activity, of course, the main thing I require, though, is a positive attitude towards the forum. If you act like a jerk, whether active or not, you won't be a very good moderator, so I won't allow you to stay on the team at that point.
I expect them to care about the forums they moderate. I expect them to be active members of the community as well as supportive to the rest of the users. A positive attitude in general is always a good thing.
