Love: that they can provide a community, fun conversations, interesting conversations, can be competitive. Organization of conversations.
Hate: the drama that can unfold, when forums lag to load, when no one is online a forum - the quietness and nothing else to do during the quiet time so I have to get offline/or off that forum for the day.
How sometimes you can make new friends and learn new things. You also can have interesting convos with people too. Also forums can have a diverse group of people on them too.
Dislike
How some are not as active
Forum drama
When no one is online
When it comes to forums the things I love about them are:
1. Meeting new people
2. Having meaningful discussions
3. Being able to share my opinion without being made to feel bad
The things I hate about them are:
1. Drama. I am not here for the drama or whether one forum has an issue for another. I am there to chat, meet new people and do what I love post on forums, and offer my services to those who would like to receive them.
I love discussing topics of similar interest with people from around the world and working on projects related to forums like coding.
I hate trying to keep the activity flowing on the forums you build. It can be a tedious task to be consistent enough to have steady activity on your forum.
You need lots of promotion to draw traffic. You don't just get it on a platter of gold. I think it is pretty hard to make money from forums in the short run.

1. Community: Forums provide a space for people with similar interests or experiences to connect, share information, and support each other.
2. Knowledge-sharing: Forums can be a great resource for learning and getting advice on a wide range of topics.
3. Anonymity: Some users appreciate the ability to participate in forums anonymously, which can make it easier to share personal experiences or ask sensitive questions.
What I may dislike about forums:
1. Trolls and spam: Forums are sometimes plagued by trolls and spammers who disrupt conversations and make it difficult to have productive discussions.
2. Lack of moderation: Some forums may have lax moderation policies, which can lead to abusive behavior or the spread of misinformation.
3. Outdated information: Because forums rely on user-generated content, some information may be outdated or inaccurate,
Love: Meeting new people and making new friends. I also love sharing knowledge among other members on a forum, and I feel that you can have more meaningful conversations on forums rather than on social media.
Hate: The drama that comes with forums sometimes. Also misinformation being spread on a community, though I see that more often on social media than forums but it still happens sometimes on forums too.
I am finding it just more and more that it just is not worth the time or investment to run a forum. I like making new friends and meeting people, but it hardly ever seems to be anybody new joining forums.
Love:
-Interacting with people from all over the world.
-It's not live conversations so I can come and go when it's convenient for me.
-Great way to pass the time when I have nothing else to do.
Hate:
-Trolls and trouble makers, spam bots and spammers
-Sometimes cool people (who I look forward to interacting with) suddenly disappear for extended periods of time (or I never see them again)

This is why I'm quitting running forums. It's almost impossible to run a successful forum in 2023. I'd rather join already established sites or help someone get their site off the ground.
I hate how much forums have become like social media sites. They used to be so basic and fun to use, but now they're just chock full of nonsense. I think of the phpBB and MyBB days where out of the box they didn't do much. You focused fully on discussion in public forums.
