Adolf Hitlar was a Strugling young artist who became a feared dictator. He led his country into a bloody war that killed millions of people.

Hitler rose to powerof Germany in the 1939s. He eventually started World War II (1939-1945), a conflict that left Europe in ruins.

Adolf Hitler was born on 20 April 1889 in Braunau-am-Inn on the Austrian-German border. His father was a customs official. Hitler left school at 16 with no qualifications and struggled to make a living as a painter in Vienna. This was where many of his extreme political and racial ideas originated.

In 1913, he moved to Munich and, on the outbreak of World War One, enlisted in the German army, where he was wounded and decorated. In 1919 he joined the fascist German Workers' Party (DAP). He played to the resentments of right-wingers, promising extremist 'remedies' to Germany's post-war problems which he and many others blamed on Jews and Bolsheviks. By 1921 he was the unquestioned leader of what was now the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP or Nazi Party).

In 1923 Hitler attempted an unsuccessful armed uprising in Munich and was imprisoned for nine months, during which time he dictated 'Mein Kampf' outlining his political ideology. On his release he began to rebuild the Nazi Party and used new techniques of mass communication, backed up with violence, to get his message across. Against a background of economic depression and political turmoil, the Nazis grew stronger and in the 1932 elections became the largest party in the German parliament. In January 1933 Hitler became chancellor of a coalition government. He quickly took dictatorial powers and began to institute anti-Jewish laws. He also began the process of German militarisation and territorial expansion that would eventually lead to World War Two. He allied with Italy and later Japan to create the Axis.

Hitler's invasion of Poland in September 1939 began World War Two. After military successes in Denmark, Norway and Western Europe, but after failing to subdue Britain in 1941, Hitler ordered the invasion of the Soviet Union. The Jewish populations of the countries conquered by the Nazis were rounded up and killed. Millions of others whom the Nazis considered racially inferior were also killed or worked to death. In December 1941, Hitler declared war on America. The war on the eastern front drained Germany's resources and in June 1944, the British and Americans landed in France. With Soviet troops poised to take the German capital, Hitler committed suicide in his bunker in Berlin on 30 April 1945.

Being Aryan and such, I quite like him. He was a great leader, and although his ideas may have seemed alittle off, you cant deny he was a great war leader...if america hadnt stepped in, he would have won, no doubt about that.

History is written by winners -😉-

I just voted and I was shocked to see that the results were 3 good 1 bad (mine was the bad).

I don't care what anyone says, a person who viciously murders millions of innocent people is not "good". No virtue of leadership can justify his intention.

I'm amazed by this as well... just wow. ~neutral~

Dont worry, If people get upset about the topic then it will be locked, but everyone is giving a good reason 🙂

I agree with you all, Hitler was a good leader, but he was a bad one at the same time, good leadership skills, horrible views etc, so i wont vote.

That's like the Richard Nixon complex: "It's not illegal when the president does it..."

Well, Hitler can't kill millions of Jews and still be a good leader. I hate seeing the adjective good modify a so blatantly terrible human being.

Let's just say like it is.

Hitler knew what he was doing. He was capable of manipulating an entire country into working towards the death of Jews. This should not be considered leadership. And if someone thinks it is, then call it bad leadership. But don't say he was a good leader. He was good at being a malicious person.

I dont agree with what he did, I just think that he was a good politician, And if he wasnt a nazi etc he would of been Famous for being one of germanies best leaders.

*headdesk*

That's like an oxymoron though...

Good at leading people to kill? Yea, I guess... but someone who is a "leader" should exhibit certain qualities like Virtue, Honor, Ethics
Honesty, Open-Mindedness, and he must be a Positive Example.

I see what you're saying about admiring him for accomplishing his goal (to a certain extent), however, leaders are supposed to be people the masses look up to. He single=handedly tricking the masses into killing more masses... lol... if that made sense... but still... Hitler was admirable, but not by any means, a good leader.

There was no doubt that he was a great speaker. So many people followed him and listened to every word he said, he got so many people to join him. I could go on forever as I studied the German politics and the two world wars for two years but I don't have the energy at the minute. ~lol~

I don't know how people could like him though, he killed millions of innocent people. I am sure non of us here would have liked to have been treated like the Jews did. It was disgusting and an unforgivable thing to do. Even if you are Aryan then it is still no reason to like Hitler. I would say the majority of Germans now are ashamed of what Hitler done. History is also not written by winners, history is written about the events happened in the past.

I only put yes because he was one of the greatest leaders this world has seen, yes he made terrible mistakes and crimes, but he was a very clever man and knew how to lead a country. It only went tits up because he had half the world on his arse.

And Ghost you were paid to step in. -lol-

Being part German as such I really see the damage he did to the German nation. I agree with Vanilla, he was one of the best dictators in history, he made all these bold speeches and he did restore prosperity during the 1920s when workers were unemployed after the world war one. I obviously hate the man for his attempted genocide against jewish people in Europe - but some of his plans and actions actually made Germany a better place today, he introduced new working schemes and went against the rules of the treaty of versailles. I can't make my mind up - I will stick with Bad because of his horrible, horrible genocide.

Greatest Dictator: That's his title. I can live with that.

Greatest as being a big effing failure a.k.a. dictator. lol...

Well considering i did what seem to be the same as Efc2008 i studied Hitler's rise to power from his time in WW1 up to the end of WW2, and its the whole politics side, and from what i have learned he was a very leader, he just had some wrong views.

I think what people are trying to say is he was a good leader because of what he could do, how he got to power and how he got so many people to listen and follow him. So he may have been a good leader but with the wrong views.

I dont think the poll can really be used here...because people vote for different conflicting reasons.

He was a great leader, we all agree on this. It doesnt matter what he lead people to do, he lead them, which is what counts.

Killing those people can be seen both ways as well. Just because you guys, who have morals, think its completly wrong to take a life, doesnt mean everyine thinks that way. Id be intrested to see someone be raised with no morals or any influence and then ask them to vote. Why? Our morals get in the way. When you were little, your parents, or someone, told you stealing, cheating, and killing were all bad. Are they though? Arnt there times when its considered correct to steal, like when giving to the poor, of if you need it to live? Well then your conflicting your morals there, which is why I shed mine years ago. I see things for what they really are, without anyone else indirectly telling me what to think.

I see it this way. Theres a great leader who killed many people because thats what he thought was correct. He fought for what he beleieved to be true. Now anyother time you people with morals would say :Fight for what you think is correct." why not now as well? If you look past his actions, hes just like every one of us, just another person with a dream, but he nearly reached his -😉-

In my opinion, it doesn't make it ok that he organized the killing of millions of people, just because he thought it was ok and the right thing to do. Taking the life of an innocent person, especially children, is wrong, especially for something as stupid as a belief or a physical / mental disability. Yah, sure, he was a good politician ( ~rolleyes~ ), but what he did with the power he got from that was wrong.

Ghost, your explanation scares me. XD

You said what if no one was exposed to influence and had no morals... no... that just simply would never happen. That would never occur. Not even if a human were raised by robots who all acted the same way, they'd still influence him or her.

And in terms of justified stealing or killing... no... lol... Poor people themselves may steal. We may not steal for poor people. And taking a human life can never be fully justified, not even for self defense. If someone is capable of pulling a trigger while point a gun at someone else, they need to pay the price.

Hitler was NOT a great leader!

I think what people are trying to say is he was a good leader because of what he could do, how he got to power and how he got so many people to listen and follow him. So he may have been a good leader but with the wrong views.

Sure, he was able to persuade obviously ignorant people into believing what he believed but they themselves had morals and chose to be stupid and follow a man who was clearly doing terrible things. So that makes Hitler a terrible man and his followers ignorant individuals, not the other way around.
