What do you think about this idea?

A social network for webmasters where they can hire staff, advertise their site, learn about SEO and marketing techniques and exchange posts and websites etc. So kind of like facebook but for webmasters. There will be features such as a forum, status updates, groups, marketplace and much more.

Here are just some basic ideas and i would like some feedback on it.

Seems like something you could easily do on an advertising or an admin forum.

I second this, and there are plenty of them already.

A whole social network based on recruiting staff? It simply won't work for a number of reasons.

1- The sheer number of people who use request section looking for staff is overwhelming already. And in 99% of cases staff searches either go unanswered or unfulfilled. See my third reason for why.

2- Most people who reply to these are more interested in getting a title and position of power than actually doing anything to help out.
(Rare is the case where someone actually gets hired on and things work out well.)
Things get worse if money gets involved since then you have people who get greedy and are only there for money.
So this often means those who are there searching for staff positions usually are not fit or qualified to be staff in the first place. (And in normal conditions they would never be made staff.)

3- Sites geared for the purpose of staff searches don't work very well because they have a fundamental flaw. They end up becoming sites where all kinds of admins are but no one actually looking to become staff is. (Admins join looking solely to recruit others, not stay active and/or become staff on other's sites.) So there really isn't anyone but other admins looking there. (Which is also the problem advertising sites have too.)

So because of those reasons, I can't see any site, forum or social network dedicated to staff searches working. Even social networks for advertisement purposes would suffer (mainly from my third listed reason, but there are likely other issues too) so really, I can't see this idea working out too well at all.

Personally, I find that all too often people open sites and then just do a staff search thinking that someone will want to join them. So really if anything there needs to be a reduction of reliance on employment sections because they tend not to work well in the first place and people tend to get unreal expectations about them.

SEO and marketing strategies would probably work better as a blog (especially if you know a lot and can effectively write about it) or forum posts (so people can easily discuss it) rather than on social network.
