So for a forum, a very important thing is to have interesting topics to discuss. What do you think makes topics interesting?
I personally think something that you can debate about makes the topic interesting because you can see other people's views and keep talking about it rather than just stop discussing after one reply.
Anything that's not generic like a lot of the topics we see. I usually find that I see the same topics everywhere. I think to make a topic really interesting you kind of need to think outside of the box and expand a little more.
Debate kind of topics is something that keeps things interesting, though it's also quite hard making those kinds of threads. Some threads you think would be a debate turn out not to be, and then making a debate thread in of itself with certain topics is just as hard. 😛
I think the people replying to the post makes a huge difference. If two or three people simply reply with just a few words but not really showing any real genuine interest in hearing about others' views then it can be difficult for others to want to respond to others' replies. I think this is why Debate topics do so well because everyone has a different opinion. Now if everyone simply agreed with everyone and doesn't contribute any more ideas then others won't find the topic enticing.
