What do you think of laugh tracks?

What do you think of laugh tracks in TV shows? It seems they were more prevalent a couple of decades ago. It doesn’t seem like they are being used or overused like before. What is your opinion on them?

I completely agree. I'd go as far as to say canned laughter insults the intelligence of the viewer.

I thought the actual live-audience laugh in for example Seinfeld was charming, but the overuse of fake laugh tracks that followed was super annoying!

I remember when I was a kid, laugh tracks were used to much and to some extent overly used. Nowadays as much as some shows still use them, they don't seem to be as overly used as they were. I still on occasion go back and watch old TV shows and when I hear the laugh tracks in them, it becomes quite annoying.
