Hello everyone, I want to know what do you think about my forum Suiko-Kya-Cross?

What do you like? What do you think should be changed?

http://Suiko-Kya-Cross.co.cc

EDIT: I would appreciate it if people would comment on things that do not have to do with the forum host I use.

I think it looks pretty good tbh. Looks pretty unique, only thing I was worrying about is that navigation bar looks out of place, but that's just my opinion 😛

It feels rather plain, maybe because it's reasonably wide, but with small font. The logo seems a bit off, maybe because it's a bit too big, and font seems outdated, but you could have a reason behind that. I would try and get some more vibrant colours to stick out and make a statement. At the moment, it feels rather dull.

Well, for the font, I have an outdated graphics program... so I can't work on that.
Although, as for the theme. I wanted a neutral light color.

Thanks for the comments so far! 😀

Have you considered using a different forum software? I just don't think ZetaBoards will work if you plan on the forum being decently-sized.

Nope, I love Zetaboards and I honestly do not like any other forum software that much.
I think most of them have annoying drawbacks.
I do not want a giant forum to begin with, just a fun one. It doesn't really matter what forum host it is, forums are about having fun! It's not about money and it's not really about software either.
I like zetaboards, it works for me. I also think Zetaboards have the best themes, I've seen so many others for PHP and Vbulletin and I can't say there were many I liked that much, but I see new zeta themes and find them better than most that I have seen.

@Hotpot, when you'll run a forum on a premium script, with some serious cpanel hosting and all the perks you'll see the difference. You can't say 'other forums have annoying drawbacks' when some of the scripts are the best in the industry 🙂

One question: if you want to take your forum off the zetaboard hosting and migrate to another script (whatever script) and take the database with you, can you successfully do it? How much would it cost? If it can be done, than you can 'test' out forum management on the server and move when you feel the community is serious enough. if not, you're wasting your time and, more importantly, your members' time.

I ask this because I used 2 free forum hosts in 2002 and 2003 and lost the database each time (since it couldn't be moved). That's not fun 🙂

I was on a free host (forumotion to be exact) and the fact that you can't move the database off is catastrophic. I strongly recommend you get off of Zetaboards as fast as possible. Other forums software can look better than that, for free, you just have to know where to look. Trust me, it's not easy finding a theme. But I have found the gold mine of themes and would be willing to help you get it all set up for free. If you want to, PM me. If not, that's your choice, but I wish you good luck once your forums get too big for Zetaboards, because if they do, you would be literally screwed. Plus, those free hosts don't have a decent terms of service, so basically, they own your site, not you. So they could shut you down and run your site without you. Not saying they will, and they probably won't, but they COULD.

I do not really understand why everyone is so up in arms that I prefer Zetaboards over other forum hosts; yes I've never been an admin on forum hosters besides Zetaboards, Invisionfree, Proboards and PHP.
But, all because I've only been an admin on those types of forums, does not mean I have not been a member on other forum hosters. As a member on other forum hosts, some were okay and some weren't, but I never really liked them as much I do with zetaboards.

I have no plans to move my forum at all Dojo, I like zeta and I have never had a problem with it in the past. Maybe if the forum was for business or something, maybe then I would consider a wider forum host. But it's just a simple forum I made for combining my three previous forums that I made a few years back, they were all on zetaboards as well. Two of them were made in 2007, and the other in 2010. I just didn't have the time to run three forums, so I merged them into one. I've been with zetaboards for a long time and I enjoy their forums and the way they do things.
I also do not have that kind of money for moving, so even if I was interested, i wouldn't happen.
Your experience was also a long time ago, people fix and change things. Plus, you didn't state what host you used in the past, it couldn't have been zeta since it wasn't made until a few years ago. All because Zeta is free, does not mean it is like other free hosts.

Zetaboards, in my opinion is definitely one of the better free hosts. They really care and do the best they can for their members, I get the feeling you guys are judging it when you may not know much about it, although I do not know if you guys know more about it though, so I cannot say what you guys know about zeta, as I do not know your opinions on it.

I think people should also consider the fact that I don't want my forum to be THAT big, I just want a nice little community with cool people, I do not really care for something so tremendous.... forums are about having fun... It shouldn't matter what you use, it's all about just having a good time.
Right now, it's really just me and a few friends of mine and I have no problem with that.
Plus, I do not have a penny to my name, I cannot afford anything that isn't free.
Kind of odd that people would assume that I actually have money because I have my own forum.

Also, a big thing is it would be annoying to move everything over... I bet half the members would not even come back. I don't really see how a forum host has too much to do with a forum, because it really shouldn't have anything to do with it. It's all about the people and the design!

Like they say... if it's not broken don't fix it!

Not quite liking the layout, although for a co.cc you're not going to be getting very good visibility there.
