we are all a bit more tech savvy (assumption) than others, or at least interested in forums, marketing, and websites. I am wondering if anyone can share what their family thinks of AI because this can be insightful for what the general population thinks.

If you have family that is less techy, or at least not using AI, what do they think of it all from an outsiders perspective?

I have family that has mixed feelings, some more optimistic than others, but most a little hesitant to just accept it. I fear it is too late as there is a very strong economic incentive to have unregulated ai, and you could say it would be a national security concern to strictly regulate it due to the risk of other countries pulling far ahead with more training & use cases.

As far as I'm aware, my family has no strong opinions on AI. My mom isn't super techy, but understands enough to get by and she doesn't seem overly concerned about it right now. She can at least tell the difference between real content and AI generated content for the most part though. I've also seen my uncle post AI generated photos on Facebook, so I don't think he's that bothered by it either, at least as far as I've seen on social media.

Nice, do they work still or are they retired? Just curious if you or they have ever discussed AI's impact overall, whether that be on the economy, society at large, or for any reason

Both still work, but we've never discussed AI much tbh.

Gotcha, thanks for the reply!

We talk about it a good bit in my family, but they're not nearby so that could just be a few times per year. They stay on top of it because i'm in tech so it's a passion subject for sure, and then from an investments perspective they're keen to understand it a bit more.

My wife doesn't like AI, other than that I'm not sure about my in laws stance on AI. I'm sure my parents hate AI, they're not too tech savvy so I bet they've been tricked before while browsing Facebook. xD

My family doesn't really talk about AI. I have noticed that some of the older folks in my family are having a hard time. distinguishing whether or not a video is AI. 🤣

A lot of us use AI, and I’m even teaching my 65-year-old dad how to use it for everyday tasks and learning. It’s been a positive experience so far, and it’s interesting to see how quickly people adapt once they understand how useful it can be.

I don't see any of my family talking about it on Facebook, except to use ChaGPT for the trending caricature thing. I can probably bet that they're waiting for AI to be more accurate and objective in its responses.

Most of the older people in my family think AI is a bit crazy and not really right. They find it hard to understand and don’t really trust it, as everything feels too automated and not human anymore.

Oh that’s awesome! It’s good you’re teaching him about it and educating him. I feel like it’s a skill many older individuals need to learn since it’s becoming so popular.
