What features does modern forum software lack?

What features would you like to see added to modern forum software?

• More powerful search functionality e.g. predictive search. Similar content based on search history. The ability to search images by user, by node or by forum.
• An app that allows participating forums to provide a single click signup, multi forum search and content suggestions based on search preferences.

Modern forum software still needs to be making more steps towards mobile optimization. The days of accessing a forum through a web browser on a mobile device should eventually be a thing of the past. Every forum should be able to easily have their own mobile app without having to spend excessively. Push notifications are especially important.

I hear this a lot and I'm curious to know what issues you see. I spend more time than I'd like to admit browsing forums on mobile, which all happen to be on XF, and I find the mobile experience pretty great.

Many offer this already.

1) push notifications to the browser on notifications, and then push to their respective devices.
2) most do this via a plugin using elasticsearch in order to not slow down the core database
3) 100% agree on this. Very few do this, practically because there isn’t a nice way (ex; best you’ll get is Sign in via Apple/Google/Twitter) oauth methods, but they lack that true 1-click aspect.

Does they offer this not ability of push notifications only for free forums hosters on for paid forum hosters because this differs? It could be that it is only available for upgrades.
