What Forum software do you prefer

I prefer either IPB or Phpbb

I classifiy them as such,

Phpbb
Ipb
These are professional type forums

Mybb
SMF
These are casual, laid back forums

But that my opinion, what do you prefer?

You missed VB for professional forums. I go for VB.

IP Board, vBulletin, MyBB, phpBB, SMF.

In that order. I used to prefer vBulletin over IPB, but IPB 3.0 has me hooked.

IPB, phpBB, VB, myBB then SMF.

But the best skins are definitely on the SMF forums imo.

I used to prefer IPB, but now I prefer vBulletin, it's just better.

On any forum, I prefer vB.

But when making my own forums, I use SMF.

By far, IPB, it's professional, easy to use, has great features, etc.

I've used phpBB too, and it's good. I never could like vB, just never appealed to me.

I use SMF for Elliquiy, so... there is that. It scales better than any of the other options, has a better mod selection, better moderation tools and better support.

Overall though, I really prefer Drupal.

Out of the ones I have tried,SMF gets my vote.

It is truly simple and anything extra you need to install is just a few clicks.

I've used:
bbPress
phpBB2
phpBB3
vBulletin
SMF
and a bunch of others..
out of them, my favorite would always be phpBB.

For me, it is alot easier to edit and it has a larger database of MODs that I would want. Anything that isn't in the database, I code myself. 🙂

IP Board, MyBB, SMF, phpBB by that poll. I personally can't stand phpBB. MODS are a pain to install, and tje community forums seem quite self righteous.

IP. Board will always be better as long as it remains paid. Free software and paid software are as different as chalk and cheese.

Actually they have automod which installs mods in seconds 😉
