Out of all the different forum software available, which do you think is dead and why? And my second question, what do you think led to the downfall of this particular software?

I think YaBB is pretty dead nowadays. It used to be a popular script back in the days, but they seem to have abandoned it, despite promising to work on a new version. Their support forum is completely chaotic right now. I don't understand anything of what is going on. Sorry to see it go. I did use it on one of my forums several years ago.

I didn't even think of YaBB until alakazam pointed it out. I definitely think it's pretty dead. I would say MyBB isn't as booming as it was, which really upsets me because it has always been my favorite. I think forum software in general is kind of slowing down nowadays.

I hadn't even heard of YaBB until this post, so I guess you're probably right about that!

The one I had in mind was vBulletin. A lot of forums still use it, but I remember how it was the go-to big forum software for a long time, and it kind of went by the wayside with Xenforo and IPB getting more popular.

Yeah, I think XenForo really knocked vBulletin out of the way; it got popular pretty fast.

close to death
vbulletin
the fault was releasing vb 5.x which i have read on adminzone
only has ultimate extra super small micro market share

vBulletin & YaBB for sure. Not many people use them.

I'm not sure if anyone would agree with me but i think punBB is pretty much dead. Their homepage hasn't been updated in 3 years and there haven't been any new releases.

Erm... is InvisionFree still alive? The last time I recall, nobody really bothered with it now. Might be wrong.

I agree about vBulletin. They used to be the forum software everyone wanted, but now they are really going downhill.
