Why do you run your forums with vBulletin above any other forum software?
Hi,
Grumpy.
I answered a similar question by
Richazey, but unfortunately I cannot quote it since it was submitted at The Hazey. That said, my answer went something like this: Not for particularly well thought out reasons, but I feel most comfortable using that software both from an administrator and user standpoint.
I get asked a lot what I can possibly see in vBulletin3, as if said software was never popular. Before Internet Brands and the release of vBulletin4, however, the software was seen in a much more positive light by user and observer alike. If anything, I believe the problem now is the company running the show, and that vBulletin3 is a dead end; in other words, a decent but aging product.
That said, I have been looking into alternatives, but the process is one I am willing to draw out to make sure the best choice is made. As for what constitutes a good choice, there are many factors at play here, such as that I am again most comfortable using it, and that the transition goes smoothly for members (i.e., they expect it, prepared for it, and have had time to gain an at least tourist-level familiarity with it). In addition, I went to make sure that as much content as possible (not just post/replies, but visitor profile comments, private messages, etc) may be preserved.
