What forum software to use?

I have Ipb and xenforo but finding all the plugins you need is extremely difficult.

I know of a serious mybb developer but don't know how much he charges

What do you reckon 2018 forum software is?

XenForo, even though the prices have skyrocketed recently. Totally up to you though, but know that you must make the right choice and stick to it.

Question is what would you be doing? what kind of an website and also what plugins that you after?

I don't have any forums anymore but if I did it would be running MyBB.

I use CreateAForum which is powered by SMF(Simple Machine Forum). As Empire said, it depends what you would be doing. I did mine around hobbies and constantly working on it. If you don't want to use CreateAForum then there's always ProBoards and MyBB.
