Well I was just wondering what gets people to start there own websites or forums?

For me I always loved web development and programming. I started learning coding/dev on an old outdated forum that now does not exist. After that I wanted to make a forum that is updated.

I made many forums and websites in the past years. My first forum got shut down by the feds but I never gave up.

I still 2 this day own a forum and love developing sites/forums.

As with the OP, I like simply building, growing, and maintaining them. However, though, profit might have been a heavy motivator in the early days (employment blogs etc.), but I always wanted to make music lesson forums, profit or not.

Most people I know have their website or blogsite more for the material gains. It is interesting to know that a website can be your bread and butter when the going gets better, i.e. if your website is monetized and getting good traffic. For forum owners, all of them go for the passion and not for the potential profit.

Forum owners make shit load of money from upgrades stickies awards etc. And some also have ads on the side.

Why?

By the looks of the forum in your signature, it looks like you’re into illegal activities.
Things happen.

😛

You put that face at the end because you know your disclaimer is pretty much BS and it doesn’t really absolve you of any guilt (which is why your first site got shut down). 😛

I wanted a safe place to talk to friends of mine which wasn't controlled by big business.
