I believe all of us have been at this point.

Should I buy an already built PC? Should I build my own perhaps?

I used to buy built PCs in the past, but I have changed that to building my own later on.

This way I can choose my own hardware, perhaps spare some bucks by getting a weaker CPU and get a better GPU. As a gamer you would most likely look out for GPU the most, although CPU and hard drives are also quite important. Which do you usually overlook?

I always prefer to build my own computer and I look at the following while shopping for the hardware:

Processor
Motherboard
Memory stick
Cabinet

If I was me, I would build my own. Order the parts and put it together 🙂

However I know allot that have no idea how to build and so they hire an guy to put it together

I'm not a Techie when it comes to hardware so what I usually purchase is the packaged PC as offered by the vendor. It's a coincidence that we have plans of buying a new computer this year and our tentative choice is a laptop. All our computers were desktops and this is the first time we are opting for a laptop for its portability. However, the cost is way beyond our budget and we are also looking for packaged PCs in the computer stores. Our main concern in a new computer is the model of the processor and the motherboard as well.

There are stores that can offer you their advice on what to buy and what is better / cheaper. They would order chosen hardware for you and assemble it as well. I know a bit about hardware myself, so I would know when salesman would try to make me buy something I wouldn't want. But if you found a genuine store where seller cared about you and not about profit, you could come up with a nice setup, and probably cheaper as well.
