I would tell my friend to go with Netfirms. I have used them the last couple years and they have great prices on domains/hosting and are a very professional company. They have great customer support to if you have any problems they get back to you and help you out right away. Very friendly people they are.

I would definitely recommend InterServer. I've used them twice and both times around they're simple amazing, very helpful bunch of team and pretty cheap!
