What host's have you seen scam?

Hello,

Now, I've encountered a few hosting company's that are scammer's and it's pretty annoying.

Just list a few witch have either (Taken your money) (Given ton's of downtime with no extra days) ,etc.

Being a web hosting company myself I would like to say that truly there are hosts that do not offer what they provide. The main reason can be that they don't have a good upstream provider and also they are hosted with limited resources to provide client satisfaction.

I would rather recommend to check out reviews about a web host before you actually sign up with them. This will ensure better services and less headaches.

If you can actually post a list and everyone collaborate I think a lot of people will find it most useful. This way, we can know which hosts to avoid. Perhaps "scam" might be too strong of a word - maybe a list (Wall of Shame) of hosts that have performed unsatisfactorily? Personally, I'd be curious to hear about others' experiences with different hosts for sure.

None that would be around anymore. Learned it the hard way that if you want something to be done right, you need money. There are no exceptions to this rule.

There was an FP member who ran a host a few years ago that closed without warning. I lost $20 in credit I had with them.

It's almost pointless creating a list of "scam" webhosts. The owners can just come back with different aliases and start again with their next fly by night operation. It's sickening and it hurts smaller companies such as holderhost because it encourages people to go for the "big boys".

They haven't been online in a while so no. Fowler PM'd them for an explanation originally but I don't think he received a response.

Well that's good that they haven't been around 🙂 I'll keep my eyes open for anything suspicious.
