What is Anonymous?

Anyone who thinks anon hacked PSN is a fool. If you use the tiniest bit of brain power its obvious someone else chose this time to hack their insecure network for free identity theft while everyone else things its anon, oh gawd anon what will we do of course it must be them and geohot did it lets kill them unamerican bastards who exploit our poor corporations.
Anon isn't interested in FP, or at least it wasn't. I've seen it discussed on 1&2 sites before and wasn't much interest in anything. Not enough lulz to be had here. People make misinformed comments everywhere, the chance of lulz happening is very low so I don't think THT is endangering the site at all.
Still they're far from little kids, THT thinks they're a script kiddie group when he doesn't understand anon is a philosophy, not a group if you really think about it, anyone can be an anon. That's like saying all americans are rednecks that want to string up black people. Generalization is dangerous. Now I'll stop before going into goodwin's law territory lol.

Guys, while I respect the debate going on here, there's also a bunch of arguing going on as well. Let's keep it Civil please.
Inifnite, I think what BB means is to stop being stupid and annoying. Just like what you're all doing right now.
Now, here's my point:
Anonymous isn't a large, huge group of hackers who can stop the world. I agree that they're not "kids". But they can be. Anonymous isn't an official group, it's just a group made up of people who like doing bad things. Anyone can join, whenever they want. When you say "Anonymous hacked that.", you're talking about millions of people, not just a group of people that work together.
Second, Anonymous isn't that big in hacking, sure some DDoS attacks on big places, some illegal actions, but that's it. All of you are scared Anonymous did the huge PSN network hack, but they did not do that. They're not so stupid to do that. First of all, that is endangering all of the world's personal information, and their privacy. Including the people of Anonymous themselves, one member of Anonymous could totally exploit their "plan" even if they had one, by just going into the hacked database, and stealing every single piece of information. Second, Anonymous is a large group of people, if the FBI of the U.S. were to track one of these group leaders, every single person in the whole Anonymous group, including those who say they are in the group when they are actually not, will get arrested for taking part.

All right, let's say it's like that. But, if Anon were to hack Sony, they would totally destroying their motive stated in previous videos. Their motive was to show the world that freedom should not be limited, and that they would punish those who did that. Their motive was not to hack the database of the PSN and take every user's personal information.
The "leaders" I speak of, are the people who founded Anon, assuming they should be called "leaders." My point is, if the government. gets a hold of one of the people who help Anon the most, Anon could screwed up.
well yeah its obviously not anon that did that, of course right now i could say im anon and anon is posting this post, anyone can say they're anon. That's why there are no leaders, just leaders for specific operations. Anon is completely decentralized.

i dont like hackers but i do hate sony. they are a greed filled corporation who try to get their hands on as much cash as possible ( iwouldnt mind this normally seeing as thats what a lot of corporations are, but their consoles arent made to last and they have made games where they can only be played on one computer, so you would have to buy another copy if the pc broke) then again stealing peoples credit card info is a bit out of order.
