New Arrival
I've been offered $6500 for my forum. I wasn't looking to sell, but running it is a huge hassle and I'm sick of it. The forum doesn't currently make any money. I don't have any advertising set up or anything, I have just been running it for free for the last 5 or 6 years. Here are the stats, taken from my cpanel software. These are the totals for the last 12 months:
KBytes: 199,319,470
Visits: 981,510
Pages: 9,251,746
Files: 22,515,164
Hits: 31,704,148
Obviously, to get the monthly average for the last year, just divide any of those numbers by 12.
The forum has 4,588 members and currently boasts 75,666 posts. There is also an archive of posts from the last forum software (which the site outgrew), but those have been written to html files and there is no database back end anymore, so I cannot count them easily.
Again, I don't have any advertisement, and my only revenue stream is from asking for donations when it comes time to renew hosting or install a new Invision Power Board license. (I usually have it covered)
How much is a forum like this worth?
How much could it actually pull in if I started advertising?
How does one even advertise? I have no clue. I started this forum because there wasn't one out there for the motorcycle I owned. Now five years later it's huge, but I've been largely hands off, set-it-and-forget-it until it comes time to pay for it again.
Charles.
