One of those things that was before the time I got into all this I guess.
If you have had any experience with it, please let me know.
Is it still a viable way to generate traffic?
I've never used PostLoop myself, however, I believe you make 'x' amount of posts on the various sites they direct you to and in return, other users of postloop make 'x' amount of posts on your forum. I could be wrong, but I think this is what it does.
You can invest money into the website which will turn them into points, you will submit your forum onto the post loop directory where people will be able to sign up and post on your forum, earning them points which then they could use on gaining posts or collect them up and exchange into $$$.
You could just sign up onto it to post on websites to earn yourself money, it can be very useful.
I have a detailed article titled Postloop Review on my blog. It covers both aspects of the website which include making money and getting posts.
In short you can earn money on Postloop by posting on other peoples forums or you can buy points and have people post on your forum for money. The pay rate is decent which is around 5-10 cents depending on the rating of the user. Postlloop can also be used as a post exchange.
I use it as a post exchange - I post on several forums on their listing and earn points which I in turn pay to others to post on my forum. I think this can work better than an post for post exchange with a single forum as it gives people a much wider range of subjects to post on (which I for one find easier) and at the same time means your own forum can look busier because there are a small number of posts by several people instead of a bigger number from only one or two.
It's a pretty legit site for getting posts but if you aren't a Grammar nazi, then I don't suggest you that register on there. The staff aren't that friendly aswell.
Is postloop a viable way to generate traffic? Well, in some cases, yes. Its just a post exchange website. You just get posts from people by doing exchanges or paying for it. You can control the quality by only letting people who have high rating to post on your website. However I wouldn't recommend it. If you would like to do post exchanges, then I would recommend doing it at FP. This is because sometimes people who are already active on your site uses the website and this means you lose points for posts you would get regardless. Whether if you do it at FP, then you can control who posts on your forum. Also, postloop takes commission and that is their source of income so doing a post exchange at FP might be better.
PostLoop isn't really all the useful in my opinion. They alienate people and cut their own sucess into quarters by being so anal retentive and restrictive. It doesn't really matter how you post because if you do not fit a certain type of poster then you will be rejected. It is rather insulting to be honest.
For example I've been doing forums for over 10 years now. I'm a great poster and I help out other forums just because their admins interest me. I wasn't good enough for their silly little service.
So while PostLoop may be a complete waste of time...the concept of post exchange is not. In fact if someone would take the time to use PostLoop's model and reorganize it into a less arrogant and less restrictive service - they would be successful.
Just my 2 cents. I'm no fan of them and I personally consider them to be a joke.
I am not a fan of post exchanges. Well at least, leery of them. How do you know you will get quality posts that are relevant to your forum? If your forum is topic specific and that topic is not the usual common on.(meaning that you have to know something about the subject in order to povide useful, quality posts) I mean would you delete the one's that are not quality to your forum.
I am totally lost in this..I would want someone to post that knows something about what our forum is about. Or would they just post in the off topic parts of the forum, such as the jokes, chit chat or whatever forums.
Yes, some posts are good and some are not as good, I have used Postloop and it has a rating system so if someone does not post quality then they get a bad rating and are not allowed to post on your forum if you set the rating high.
