ive used Eamped and they were pretty good until they got ads, which sucked, so then i switched over to SetBB, they had ads already but they had alot of mods to use and it was really nice. But then i found freeforums and im happy with them they are the bomb
FreeForums is the best, they have the best support.
i was with another provider http://www.setbb.com/ who deleted my board, when i asked why, they only copy/pasted TOS at me that had 2 new rules on it, i checked the main page TOS when signing & the searched for rules in the forum, they both showed the TOS without the 2 added rules,
so their new rules was hidden, i mensioned this & was banned/posts deleted.
Ooo that's bad that is. Nobody should be made to feel they have to take stuff up
just to shut somebody up. Did they leave you alone after that.
As for the topic question:
Up to now, cos I haven't been there long, I would say 'freeforums'. They certainly offer plenty of
stuff, the support seems great and of course, it goes without saying, no ads. ~cheesey_grin~
Freeforums.org are good but they are still new and the did not expect to be this popular so they weren't ready for all the forums they had to host. But give them time they will be the best around by far.
freeforums, only one i had. Thought they are having mateinace done that deleted a few forums, they are the best i have seen. No, they didnt delete them on purpose. It was a failing drive and some forums created in early July were deleted because of this.
Up until now I'd say Freeforums, but then, that was prior to losing a month's worth of data. I've been nervous about the backups being nerfed prior to upgrading code versions, and lo! I had an online game running that wasn't really feasible to backup (would've had to copy paste many, many posts) and now it's gone for good.
With the sudden realization that they weren't running a cluster, I'm now forced to wonder what the monkeys in the server room are spending their time doing.
Sure, FF offers quite a bit, and unlimited bandwith sans ads is pretty awesome, but that doesn't do me a bit of good if my data's lost.
So, I'll be looking for another forum, myself. I'm actually going to break down and purchase a domain, I guess, but I have absolutely no idea what that entails, so . . . meh.
