In regards to Islam, and the Jews, and any other religion or group that doesn't eat pork, pork is seen to be a unclean thing to eat, because of part of the fact that pigs are seen as a animal that eats junk. Granted that you can still feed pigs with good things, and get better and healthier pigs from those things, like having them eat corn, and other good items that are seen to benefit domestic farm animals.
From what I understand, one of the reasons why cooking pork and eating it was seen as bad, was because pigs can tend to be unruly, like some of the animals that live in the wild, and it was seen as something that shouldn't be eaten, even if you raised the animals for a living.
Back 2,000 years, the pigs were raised by the Jews, to be sold as food to people like the Romans, because pigs weren't seen as unclean to those people.
Interesting reply but wouldn't you say that we cannot judge all apples to be rotten if one or two is? I mean in a religious manner and one of reasoning and logic. It seems that the religions took it upon them to just ban the whole species to prevent diseases and such. Good thought 2000 years ago. Now 2000 years later: bad thought.
Sure I see why they did it. But in today's world its possible to grow pig food anywhere in the world with the right method to produce safe meat to consume. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here.
I mean if the west managed to do it without putting or so I think at least, people not in harms way when consuming pork food it surely means it can work out to grow pigs and eat them?
Just to get back on the religious note:
What do people say in most religions other then what you just said, that is actual proof that discourages pork consumption? I mean I've heard so many things they claim are a reason to stop eating pork food but which are legit? This is why I made this topic to find out the truth behind the meat.
I'm no expert on the matter. Far from it but as you might see my post does reflect my position on the matter in a clear way. I don't see the reason other then viewing it in a religious context of course, with that said in said content it has no valid backing for the ban of pork.

I work at a chemical plant that deals with deadly chemicals (Insecticides, Pesticides, Chloromethyl, Epoxides...etc) we use on our crops, these alone are very scary knowing we consume such chemicals. So the real question is "What is the real truth about all foods?"
I do have many Muslim friends and I promise you that you couldn't pay them 1 million dollars to even lick a piece of bacon. They won't even eat off the same pan that you cooked bacon on in the past.
I even had a grill and was grilling up bratwurst and other meats and my friend (he is Muslim) would put tin foil over all the "contaminated" areas and cook his food separately.
So conclusion would be, Don't worry too much about Pork because technically just about everything we consume is unhealthy. Comforting, huh?
You do ask indeed a very good question. I'm aware of the junk that is present in our foods to a certain degree. However let me ask you an even better question:
If our food is so bad now then why do we grow older and older then in the past? When in that time foods contained less junk. I'm talking before industrialization. When food was harvested naturally without any chemicals. I know I know many factors come in for us aging older and older but if we really keep getting older should we then worry about what is put in our food? It doesn't seem to have such a major impact? Okay maybe it increases the chance of cancer but what else? We still grow older and live longer then before.
Besides they are becoming more strict on this and it isn't the wild west anymore. More and more rules about growing and producing foods are put in place. In the future we may finally be rid of the mass sugar they put in our foods and the chemical they use to make our tomato's look perfect.
