Contests, Q&As, or themed weeks can boost activity, but some flop. Which types of events create genuine connection? How often should you host them? What small touches make events feel special and inclusive?
To be honest, the majority of my events are flops. I never really know which ones will make it big though, so I keep trying and don't repeat the ones that are failures. Sometimes the "chat" concerning the event does better than the actual event.
Even if your theme looks amazing and epic, and eye-catching, it doesn't make people want to join. I get this a lot. Meaning you can work for hours to days to weeks coding and making the best looking site as much as you can, and meanwhile, another site has a very basic lookin,g boring theme and ends up being more active and so more members
