I find this a interesting question I am surprised no one seem to ask as a discussion. I am curious on others people thoughts on the type of forum they would like to see, but more so what it would have to offer you and what your expectations would be? There are plenty of experience individuals here on FP, but of course not everyone have the funding to do some of the ideas they like, but it would be interesting to hear what other people think and what would they expect and would like to see from a forum of their ideals. So what is everyone thoughts? It can be about anything really any genre, features you would expect, etc.

I'd like to see an art showcase-based forum, where members can freely show off their works and get feedback. Think of it as an DeviantArt alternative.

Truth be told though, I tried to make this myself years ago but it was an instant flop :grumpy:

I did had an project that is now put on hold since time and money isn't on my side but it was going to be an forum/website about emergency services, not just based in american but more for the world. Anything from any emergency departments. Fire, EMS, Police, Air ambulance and you name it. An place for people who are fans or needs support and those that work in the emergency career to come and chill and be involved. Title that I had is "Bayside Virtual Emergency Services" as it goes with the domain.

There aren't many forums out there that does all. There is one site that only based on UK police force. But like I mention I put it on hold. At least I can say that I have two people that are in the law enforcement that can help me out to get things off the floor regards policing.

I’d like to see more forums that appeal to local discussions in a particular area. I wish the area where I lived had a community where you could discuss local politics, sports, businesses, etc. I think that’s something that we’ve always lacked, even with the rise of all of these local Facebook groups that exist now.

That's another thing I had in mind... a forum dedicated to Scotland as a whole or just about Glasgow, its largest city 🙂

I think we need more movie forums. There were some great ones years ago. But they've all closed down or disappeared over the years. There's still some in existence, but not as many as there used to be.

Forums running Gosora lol

More modern ones in general, to be honest. There are quite a few big boards (over 4 million posts each) which still run UBB.classic (that software is from the 90s and predates password hashing, so the passwords are actually stored in plaintext) and there are plenty of offenders still on vB3 like Pokecommunity.

Check out your local cities subreddit. Thats where I go!

You know, in Ireland, boards.ie did exactly that, but all in the same place. It's so massive that you no longer land on the main forum index. (There is a way though: https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/index.php)

It's a good thing that they aren't seperate forums on separate urls. If I have a question on something, I go to this forum and I'll always get an answer because the community is huge. OR if you have a complaint, like your mobile phone company being dicks, just make a complaint in their area and their reps will be on it ASAP. They don't want to look bad. XD.

It seems like there would be something like that around. Well, I mean, something somewhat PG rated! Anyway, that's a fun idea and worth the trouble - but as with anything, it would be a tough haul making and marketing it.
