Don't just say, "i wanted to be the admin" or "i was bored". This is where you get to let others know what you're forum really means to you, and what they can expect when joining. Give as much detail on the origin, and reasoning to why you wanted to make the forum you run, today. 🙂

Here I go, and expecta long read 😀

I created my Forum on impulse. It's main theme is based on the new Nintendo Wii game Super Smash Brother Brawl. I've never done anything with graphics and design on the internet before creating this forum, but I'm a fast learner.

This game is playable online, but in order to enjoy the experience, you have to find friends to exchange (friend codes) with to play them online. Well, i finally found one person on the net to exchange codes, the evil within - he's now an active member to my site and my global MOD, and after that first match, i was hooked ... and i wanted to get more players connected.

Well, i'd go to other game Forums, and if you're a newbie, it's hard to get people to take you serious, and they'd either overlook your posts or just refuse.

So, i said screw it, and i created the SSB Brawl Domain. A Nintendo Wi-Fi Community where people looking for other gamers to play over Wi-Fi, wether it's Brawl or any other Wii Wi-Fi title can come here and meet other gamers eager to play anyone.

And i don't turn anyone down ready to Brawl ... i'm always up for it, LAG or no LAG

I've been a member of many Forums, so i kinda knew what Boards to make to keep members somewhat interested ... we can't "game" 24/7 It'd be nice

That's my story, the building of the Domain!

Re: What led you to create your Forum?

I was inspired by a different forum. A GFX/Photoshop forum. I thought it was pretty cool so I made one myself. =]

Inspiration from forums like this and forum advertizer and hireem 😀

I wanted to help others that might be in similar situations as mine. That's why I made my forum. However it is currently stagnant.

About six or seven years ago I had a proboards forum with only people I knew in real life on there (My friends & their family and my family). I abandoned it because I gave my computer to my mom as a present because she wanted one. About a year ago I finally bought another computer and got internet. I started up another forum, this time on phpbb2 using freeforums.org. They were the first free forum host I found on google so I went with them. I knew nothing about forums (well except for proboards, but I wanted to try something new). I created forum about Television discussion called "TV Talk." I got a couple members and promoted everywhere I could find but after visiting a few promotion boards and seeing how rude and strict some of those boards were, I decided to give up on my TV forum because I was so discouraged. Some ad forums arent very nice to newbies who dont know what they are doing. Anyways a short time after that I decided to create my own advertising forum but with a more laid back/non-strict atmosphere. So FA was born! I was still using freeforums because it was still the only forum host I knew of. I stuck with them for about 6 or 7 months and when FA reached 500 members I decided buy hosting for it and get the hell away from crappy freeforums.org. The Island was created about a month or two before I bought hosting. I decided to make that forum because I wanted a regular forum where I can get away from advertising forums and just relax and have some fun. I created that one on InvisionFree becaues I seen MANY MANY successful forums hosted by them and the software seemed pretty straight forward and easy to use. After using them for a while I soon learned about the spam bots. I had email validation on but that didnt matter. They could somehow get around that and fill up my board with different types of porn and advertisements. I also seen the lack of security IF had. Many IF boards can be easily hacked by people who know what they are doing. Soon I realized that all free hosts werent worth it. I spend a lot of time on my forum hobby and I would be very upset if all my time and work just went down the drain because one of my forums got hacked or the host suddendly went out of business and shut off their service without notice (Ive seen that happen before too). All of the above reasons lead me to make the choice to get paid hosting and I couldnt be happier with my choice.

great insight, Travis. +1 rep

that's what this topic is for, th really express to others what your forum means to you, and what others should expect to get out of it upon registering. 🙂

I love seeing and reading posts like these!

I created mine to be able to connect with other people who share the same interests as I do. ~biggrin~

Thanks I practically wrote an essay on the topic. Thanks for the rep too. -😉-

I've got quite an internet addictive personality and I like the idea of interacting with individuals who share the same interests as me, so for a while I went searching EVERYWHERE to find a forum that encompassed my interests. However I couldn't find one that shared my hobbies, values or age group.

SO I created my own -razz- and thankfully attracted like-minded people -8)-

I decided to start my own forum after being a group admin on another site, problem was we didn't have any admin powers, apart from adding and removing members, to get any posts removed we had to report them as objectional. We could only start topics, so the list was endless.....

I went a googling and found freeforums.org and decided why not - its free!! so off I went making my forum about spiritual topics that I am interested in and are becoming more and more popular on the net.

I hope you will all pop over to have a look, when I have enough posts to advertise it!! -😉-

I created UB because there was no such dedicated forum for such a common issue. Hopefully it will help someone. -😉-

thats pretty shitty rights :/

Yeah, it gets really annoying when people were starting new threads that already existed and all I could do was ask them to use the ones already open, then had to report as objectional to get it removed - nightmare.....

I am enjoying starting my own forum, where I have all the control that I want, with more to come if it is successful enough to buy the domain and the rights..

for sure, that would be irritating as hell.. and not really much point being an admin/mod lol

What lead me was that there was potential for a new forum for the Oklahoma City Thunder since one didn't exist already, and being a fan of the newly relocated team, just wanted to have a place for everyone to discuss the team.

my forum was created in the hopes of giving like minded poeple a chance to have a voice and express their feelings and views on the vast area of the paranormal.
i rememberd how even just a few yrs back that a lot of folks were afraid to speak out incase of riddicule, so my intension was to open up the gates by shareing my own experiences and encouraging others to do the same in a friendly , family type situation.

i created my first forum on forumotions about a year and a half ago and loved everything about it until i got the advertising itch and thought it best to buy a new hosted forum back in march. i cant say that it has made a great deal of difference between being a free or paid site and although i actually lost a lot of members in the cross over, it is still my passion and i will continue to offer this haven to anyone who needs it or just needs a place to talk xxx

I wanted to get me into the forum business and create one, because i thought i would be better and more mature. and i am! Thats why I created Admin Central, to give me another opportunity to own a forum and do well with it

I first used a phpbb2 forum and I was a member on it. Then I thought I could have my own forum at a free host. Which never got posts or members. After that I made many forums and the last one I made hasn't quite launched yet.
