I didn't dare try the second link, as the first one loaded super slow, and all I got was about:blank (I'm on google chrome). This is why I refuse to go back to free hosting anymore. Way too much downtime and it can be very stressful for all involved. Staff as well as members. This is why paid hosting is definitely the way to go.

So, let me see if I'm interpreting this right: If it's a bigger, active host, it will be able to solve problems better than a smaller/newer host that doesn't have so many clients yet?

Wow great argument Ashley. That is true too. One thing though, the longer you have been running a host company the more experience you have. Once you have more experience you may already know how to solve the problem from the past if you were Ddosed before.

Bigger hosts tend to have the knowledge and resources to reduce the effects of DDoS attacks and very very rarely does big hosts have their servers down for days for any reason and especially because of DDoS attacks.

I think I knew that about the experience bit, but I'm sure the same can hold true for running a forum as well, especially if you're running a newly released software.

I've never been on a host that's been DDOS'd before, but I do know that even if they are targeted, or even if the attack succeeds, most larger hosts are usually good about having everything back to normal either within the hour or by the next day at the most.
