While hosting is a very crucial part of a website, the qualities of the hosting service is of paramount importance when about to choose a host.
The most important reason why I use the services of my current web host was their speed to respond to client issues. Customer service is one of the services a host should have, but for me I require more than that, I require a speedy response type of customer service, and they offer that amongst other necessary features they offer already.
What important reasons makes you use the services of your current host?

  1. Fast response with the great hardware.
  2. the price of which I got at the time. 70% off deal
  3. reviews was very good rating
  4. won awards.
Yet want to change because own by EIG and we all know who they are and also the cost to renew for old clients are crazy

After recent events and some life issues, my current webhost is a form host provider and a rather popular one - ZetaBoards. I decided going with them was the best route as my hosting was becoming less and less helpful with issues that would arise as well as the price for my forum license, add-on & style renewals. ZetaBoards was the smart choice as I already had a custom theme made for ZetaBoards (which i'm currently using now) So far, the majority of my members/users are happy.

I have tried quite a few hosts that offer cheap prices and experience tells me that cheap hosting means bad hosting. Therefore, I go for the hosts that have good reviews, support and uptime. 24/7 support is a must and I don't mind paying a higher price in return for this.

I remember some of the crappy hosts that FP has been on before. There was the 48 hour downtime, and the week downtime.

But yeah - you get what you pay for. There's a reason some hosting is 99 cents, and it's the quality isn't nearly what the hosting is that you actually pay full price for is. Especially if you have a large website, you always need a host that you can trust. It's totally worth the extra money for the support/uptime that a quality host will provide.

I run my site on Google Compute Engine behind Cloudflare, I get both a very fast CDN and the speed of Google's infrastructure. It's awesome plus if you put Cloudflare in front of compute engine you save money on bandwidth costs and have a special discount for being a Cloudflare Customer.

Delusions of grandeur I guess

I'm not even kidding. I suspect that they've blocked crawlers from accessing the forum since we no longer see them on site. Twitter also cannot visit, but it's nothing on our end. They must feel that we're using too much bandwidth and instead of consulting us, they crippled the site.

Will be moving soon.

I've become quite familiar with Zetaboards over the years and have always been a fan of the simplicity of it all...well, that and the amazing themes people have made for the service 😀

Price, reliability, customer support, and quality. My site(s) have been going for 24/7 without a hiccup for months now. 🙂
