What scares you as you get older?

Death scares me, but this has always scared me. Just as I get older I wonder if it will be painful, I think that's the thing I'm more worried about. I watched a few videos that a hospice nurse uploaded to Youtube and she does a great job explaining what our bodies go through during the end of life phase. It sounds like it's uncomfortable up to a point. I'm also afraid that I will never finish any of my big projects before I croak. I think I should probably pass on some of those big projects, not my websites but other non website related projects.

I think I saw that same video...does she talk about the death rattle?

I have phobia for animal generally. I've been trying to overcome this fear but nothing seems to be working.

Yes she does! She had a clip of an actively dying patient, it was disturbing but also interesting at the same time.

YES! I saw that. My mom made that noise when she was dying and I thought her throat was closing up from allergies, but my cousin told me about the death rattle.

I have a fear of being homeless or not having enough finances to be independent.

I'm scared of my husband dying before me and my family not excepting Christ before they die. 💔 I need them to go to Heaven with me. 🙏

It's the opposite for me when it comes to getting old. I fear death less because I've come to the acceptance we are all going to die.

Old age is synonymous to sickness. That's my biggest fear of getting old.

Not really a fear but the body pains that go along with aging. I'm only 53 and feel them all time and they get worse as you get older.

Face aging and death really freak me out as I get older. Seeing new wrinkles or gray hairs in the mirror is like a slap in the face that I'm not young anymore. Death is the scariest part though.. not knowing what happens next or having to leave everyone I love behind.

Death doesn't worry me because when I die I'll be dead and I doubt I'll give a flying fig. What comes before death is a bit more of a worry. Ideally I'd like to die in full working order with all of my bits intact.

Actually, as I grow older, I'm finding that I'm fearing things less. Especially death.
Not really any fears for me either... just more disappointments that I cannot do things that I used to as well as I used to.
Death comes to all. It's not something to be afraid of. I look at it as the next step along the path of life's adventures. Once you cross that threshold you will know for sure if there is something beyond, and I like to think there is.

I have a fear of dying. also have a fear of drowning and burning alive in a fire.
Speaking of the death rattle, my MIL passed away in January and before she passed I still don't know what it was but it was a horrible sound, I can still hear it.

For me it's not so much death itself, but dying in a hospital bed. I've seen too many personally go that way, and don't want it when it is my time.

That and things increasingly not working and/or deteriating - health wise, which of course goes hand-in-hand with old age.

How fast time seems to pass.

When I was younger, a year felt like a long time. But now, they seem to fly by!

The fact that my life is largely devoid of accomplishment compared to others my age scares me.
