What should a band name be like?

Morrisey, former lead singer of The Smiths, explained that his band name was an irony. What I mean, is that the "plain name" was supposed to have awesome music, much like many awesome name bands were crap. Well, that stereotype isn't always true, though.

So what do you feel is a good strategy for a band name?

I knew this girl that I worked with. She and her best friend just sat down one night and randomly picked a name for their band because it sounded cool to them. I've also noticed some amateur bands will rename themselves multiple times before landing on something permanent or before the band breaks up.
