Why hasen't my site gianed much members? Its really nice, I have been getting tons of visitors, and a couple people joined, but in the end it seems that I have put so much out there, there is no way of gaining anything else, everything seems to be on track, but every time I come on, all I see is one staff member just browsing, and an empty forum full of topics I made the previous day. Like I leave the forum for 16 hous and nothing changed, its sad.

Can anyone advise me?

PS: I have promoted like crazy. And yet, nothing.

-- 17 Jun 2011, 16:20 --

Can anyone help me?

I have promoted here, I'm using post exchange now.

I've also promoted on sites that are HUGE with spam bots, (was probably a bad idea. Good thing registration is hard on my site.)

Promoted pretty much in a lot of sites. Also signed up to Postloop. I get LOADS of visitors, its the content I'm worried about that's not attracting people.

Your domain is completely irrelevant to your genre. Guildforums suggests a gaming type of forum but your forum is a webmaster forum?

A Guild can go as far as anything. Clubs, unique mission statement, a large organization, gaming, a company name. See definition of guild below, which my site represents. (The first definition I preferring to: an organization of persons with related interests, goals, etc

guild
[gild] Show IPA
–noun
1.
an organization of persons with related interests, goals, etc., especially one formed for mutual aid or protection.
2.
any of various medieval associations, as of merchants or artisans, organized to maintain standards and to protect the interests of its members, and that sometimes constituted a local governing body.
3.
Botany . a group of plants, as parasites, having a similar habit of growth and nutrition.

I assumed it was a forum for guilds (from games) to gather. I think that's the main problem, is that the domain is somewhat falsely advertising for you, despite the actual definition.

Well, I know its different. It takes getting use too. But Innovation grows for a reason. Innovation is to change and modern direction of unique boards. The Guild is a group, a group of people who come together and share. I realize that I probably hit the gaming industry with this, but who hasn't, a unique name can come from anywhere.

For example "Larrysboard.com," I made that up, but that site could be about anything, it could be a general board, gaming board, or something else completely different.

This goes to show that "guild" has been used WAY to many times on the gaming communities. SO its time to alter it into different directions.

I could never really launch my site, almost did till I got sick of vBulletin 4. Recently I changed to xenForo (2 days ago) and now traffic as almost worsen. It seems that every site I make doesn't make a slight difference anywhere. I mean I have unique ideas and relevant information (such as customer/job training) for people. But no one understands or even bother to give it a try Supposivly my site is a staging area for webmasters to share information and help create a innovated community. Unfortuneantly, however, when I make a great post that explains most things or post a lot, it never turns out to be.

I have always worked hard on trying to reach the sites goals and milestones, but its failing a slow painful death.

The site title does throw people off because my site URL and title seems to be more game related, however I don't want that. Its supposed to be unique, that's is the whole purpose.

I have tryed everything in the book and is still trying....!

forum growth very slow if someone interested on your forum and it will be good.

You need to be unique. All the boards on your forum are boards I can see on all the other webmaster boards out there. You need stuff to make it stand out from the rest.

1. Be Unique

2. Get all your friends online and chat on forums, once other people will see you got active members they will join too.

3. Dont be away from your forum for 16 hours =/

DiversitySolutions how could I benefit from joining your forum?

Exactly. And why should i prefer your forum than most other big communities of same niche?
"Just make people register, But don't wait for people to register".

If it's an advertising/webmaster forum, there's the problem right there. too many already, and most already have their favorite picked out.

Some suggestiosn to help get your site out there.

1. Get a custom theme, having a custom theme is always useful for getting people to join.

2. Advertise on sites with the same genre as yours, even if it is just a link in your signature.

3. Word of mouth advertising. Like another person said get in a conversation with your friends and tell them about your site.

4. Do not give up,always keep trying the moment to start to give up it is all over.

Good advice. Thanks, I'm getting my word out there alrighty. I have made a huge breakthrough of creating a excellent tutorial for xenForo. I call it Forum Cook'n. A new unique way to make tutorials.

Here is one thing you should know. Why do you care about how many members you have on your forum?! The only reason people are not joining is because you have way too little threads for your new members to reply to. For example, you want to make as many threads as possible and have multiple accounts on your end so that new visitors will think that you forum is a bit active and that they will want to join.
