Hey All,

I want to get some extra information and opinions-feedback on choosing what is the best.

Either:

1. Vbulletin the 3.0.0 series, more really the version 3.8.7
or
2. Woltlab Burning Board (full version, paid.)

What is the best forum software of those two? Which one do you recommend the most and why?

Does Woltlab Burning Board have built in features like prefix system, reputation, album, profile styling, money system, etc ....

What are the main difference between both softwares?

I'm not sure I've even heard of Wolt Lab before, but if you go for VB, it's best to go with the 3.6 series as VB 4 has major security issues.

Vb3 would be ok 🙂 ive heard of woltlab but ive never used it so i have to say vb.

To be honest I just heard of burning board 2 days ago when I voted on a poll of which forum software is the best. It shouldnt matter what we think, it depends on your comfortability, and whichever one suits you the best. I will agree though vBulletin 3.8 is outdated, but if I was to I would choose it over burning board, just my preference.

vBulletin is amazing! The styles for it look really nice. But it really depends on what the site is.

I would say vBulletin, never heard of Woltlab Burning Board, but personally I wouldn't spend that money on a forum board that is not very popular compared to vBulletin.

I've used both and i'm currently using vBulletin 3.8.7 So I would go with that. 🙂

Plus you can do some amazing stuff with vB you can't do with BurningBoard. 🙂

What's wrong with vBulletin 3.8? 😛

I've never even heard of WoltLab.

Duh, nothing like jumping the gun. Okay anything below the 4.0 series, then

You know what, I would like to see you use Woltlab, and I'll tell you why.

- I know they're German, but I know you're European. Maybe it'd be for you.
- A few people who I know have hyped about it, looking at their SEO and their plugin system (which supposedly they had even before the likes of MyBB and vBulletin).
- The forums actually look nice.
- As good as vBulletin 3.8 was, it's more or less out of date when it comes to the standards of what nice-looking forums should be.

They just updated vBulletin to 3.8.7, it's not out of date if they are still maintaining it.

They're maintaining it but its in its creeping its way into the grave.

Re: What to choose VBulletin 3.8.7 or Woltlab Burning Board?

So it's not outdated. It will still be a while before vBulletin 3 is not supported anymore.

Re: What to choose VBulletin 3.8.7 or Woltlab Burning Board?

Yeah but its coming. 😛

Re: What to choose VBulletin 3.8.7 or Woltlab Burning Board?

Obviously, it happens with most software. New version comes out, stop supporting the older version 😛

People have to start learning the code etc for when it doesn't get supported anymore.
