What to offer?

Domains, posts on their forum, small amount of real cash, amazon vouchers, itunes vouchers and maybe hosting depending on how much money you wish to spend for a prize.
or, one thing i'm starting at the moment, is promoting my new competition, you know of, boss ... and big forums, i'm offering to place their forum banner in my headrers ... since i have removed the forum providers ads. ( for those who let me post/host the competition in particluar sections of the board )
cool thing, though ... two HUGE forums didn't mind the topic, and wasn't worried about the banners placed on my forum; which was sweet!
but, if members are going to go through the trouble to help you ... you have to give them something "extra" rewarding that will encourage them to participate, and want to compete for the prize at stake.

did you advertise the promotion in the right places. some members here may not be interested in wii points. i remember killman made an ad on youtube for wiizone; and it worked out nice for him ... but when members realized they had to make 1,000 - 2,000 posts to get the wii points ... they vanished quickly.
it's hard to come up with something to reward for these. just mix it up, like what all fowler said, and some rep points, posts, something they could benefit from in return.
and, i will tell you one thing about wii experience ... as cool as the navigation buttons are ... alot of guests want to see the forum from the home page .. they move on quickly, and if they don't see the wii topics/posts from the home page, they may not click, or even see the navigational buttons.
maybe use 60X300 image banners in the topic desciption for the systems

^Note about that, I wouldnt use banners in the topic desciption, turns alot of people off...including myself. They slow the overall loading rate, they cause the forums to be un-evenly spaced, and unless you get it perfect, they can look really ugly and out of place as well.
If the winner is an affiliating admin, sticky their topic. (Not sure if you still have that section).
Offer a *free* custom made userbar, signature, or graphic of some kind.
If you still have the money system installed, give away money via that.
Wii points would work well, if adverted correctly in the correct sites. An example would be on another nintendo forum with the topic title "Free Wii Points!" ect.
The key is being unqiue, and doing things YOUR way. Stop thinking about how other do it, and do it the way you think is correct. Thats what ive been doing, and thus far its working 100%. Copying can do wonders, but some times it pays off to be the weird one -😉-
