What Type Forum Gets the Most Attention?

Admin forums and general talk forums have the most visitors in my opinion, and review forums like my forum have the least! 😀

Doesn't make a huge difference if those forums with xx million posts have 100k spam posts.

I agree with Cosmic. There used to be a promotion forum that based all their reviews on how many posts were in a site's spam forum, because that accounted for 3/4 of the posts on their own site. Post/member count means nothing to me. A good forum should have an emphasis on being a community over how many posts and members they have. Some of the best communities I participate in don't have a lot of members, but they have a lot of really good discussions.

A forum should have a purpose and a sense of direction. I think if post and member count is your main goal as an admin, then your forum will stink like rotten eggs.

Again, it wouldn't matter if the forum had a million posts and a small ratio of spam posts. I am part of a great web development forum, that gets its fair share of spam posts and useless members. So what? I enjoy being part of the forum, even with a fair bit of spam posts. It's being dealt with fast, so it's of no hindrance. There are many forums with a high post count, yet still focuses on the community. If the forum had no community, it wouldn't have gotten such a high post count, so it's all relevant in itself.

Webmaster forums like Digital Point & warrior, as sufficient earning is possible there for all most every webmaster.

Funny how many people outside the RPing genre, I have heard say that roleplaying is one of the hardest kinds of forums to get off the ground and some of the least popular when one glance at Big boards.com shows what at the top? 😛 a giant anime roleplaying site.

If you are an active part of the RPing community and know a few tips on getting one started, this is actually one of the EASIEST kinds of forums to get off the ground, because of the way they tend to all hook up and communicate with each other. This helps members flow from one to the other. But your heart has to be in it, it is NOT the kind of forum that will make you rich or even just pay the bills.
