If you use Windows, what was your favourite version of Windows and why was it your favourite?

For me, personally, I've only used both Windows 7 and Windows 10. And I love both of them.

I love Windows 7 because of the Aero Glass Theme. I for some reason, like Glass-looking interfaces(Look at IOS 1 - 6 for example). Another reason that I like Windows 7 is that it was designed for things like work. I constantly do a lot of work on my Laptop(Windows 10). But when I say that, I really mean just writing threads on FP and writing code.

I do love Windows 10 as well. Back to the interface, I do like modern and more flat interfaces. And just like Windows 7, Windows 10 is great for work. But things that turns me off about Windows 10 is that:
  1. There's less customizability to the screen(E.g. The removal of Classic Themes in Control Panel)
  2. Too much spying on Personal-Data
  3. Updates...Updates...And more Updates...
But in reality, both Windows 7 and Windows 10 are my favourite versions of Windows. Now I just need to wait until Microsoft releases Windows 11(That's only if they ditch that dumb Windows-As-A-Service model and go back to the original roots. A new version every so often).

Windows 2000 is probably my favourite one. Just so simple and easy to navigate. XP looked like some child had been released with a bunch of crayons and destroyed the interface and then after that it just started getting stupid. They started making fancy updates to the GUI. Plus I was 9 when windows 2000 came out and it is what I grew up with. I do just about remember Windows 95 on our computer but from what I remember compared to 2000, was that the icons were massive! Haha.

if i said windows 3.1 i might be showing my age a little but no not my favorite, they have evolved over time spent a lot of time in 95/ XP never really used 2000 but i would say i did like windows 7 then they introduced windows 8 which was a big downfall in my opinion, was pleased to hear they put the best of windows 7 and 8 into windows 10 which i feel was a good move, but overall not the best fan of windows and much prefer Linux Operating systems at this moment in time.

Windows 7 for me. I still have one old laptop which has it installed. I found it pretty much useful for my current needs. I find Windows 10 buggy with frequent crashes, with updates being forced on us.

I did like Windows 7's theme... Five years ago, but it is a little on the dated side now compared to Windows 10' sleeker theme, although Cortana takes up a ridiculous amount of space on the task-bar for no apparent reason but to advertise it's existence.

Windows 10 is probably the buggiest version of Windows I have ever seen though, even far more so than Vista which was supposedly really buggy. It's probably thanks to update after update after update being dropped down all the time rather than having a good old clean install like I normally would with older Windows.

People keep poking me to use Linux instead though, so I really should repurpose one of these machines with that, as Windows drops support in a heartbeat all the time.
That's only if they ditch that dumb Windows-As-A-Service model and go back to the original roots.
I doubt it'll happen with the current CEO, that's practically his legacy as it stands. He does some smart things like not running an endless smear campaign against Linux, but beyond that... Some things are questionable.

I hope that whoever Microsoft’s next CEO is, they’ll actually put focus on Windows again. It’s practically Microsoft’s Life-Support Machine. I do understand that technology is advancing and we’re moving towards the streaming/services model.

I got so used to windows 10 now that I gotta say windows 10, I mean I been using it since the very first beta release. Not the full public release. And over the year of using it has bugs, then the full release came. since then that's what I use. But is it my favourite? Nope, I can't say what is though. Windows 7 was very good and so was XP in it's time and 95 was okay. I did love windows 7 with it's options that I think they should keep in windows 10 and yet windows 10 is fast but heavy. Windows 7 was more clean to the point that you feel more free and have more power over it then what windows 10 has now. ANd of the day we all do not have an choice to what we want to use, Windows 10 is here and it's supported and the other older OS isn't

My first version of Windows was 3.0 in 1990. That was so nice compared to using DOS that we only had on our system. But my favorite would be XP only because I used it the longest! All of my software worked with it and upgrading meant that some of my software wouldn't work so I held onto it as long as I could. I have Windows 10 now and I'm really liking it so maybe in another year or two I'll say this version is my favorite.

I loved Windows 95, as most of the games I had were built for XP and 95. If I had the chance, I would probably use it on a computer for memory sake. My next would be Windows 7, if I had it on a desktop, so I can replace the hardware easily to keep it from having issues.

Windows 7 and XP as I used XP a lot growing up. But for now Windows 10

Windows 7 is my favorite. I've been using it since 2010/2011, and would never stop if not for the fact that software is gradually versioning out of it. My next computer will have to be Windows 10, because Adobe CC apps are starting to phase out Win7. 🙁 And since I need those...

Windows 10 is by far my favorite operating system. The search is well indexed and can be a godsend for efficiency. My system almost never crashes, freezes, etc. Updates are usually all performed seamlessly, and it's compatible with almost everything(even legacy).

Like others have said Windows 10 has been my favourite so far.

Yes its buggy and Microsofts telemetry and ad serving is questionable, but it runs well, looks good and has a lot of nice features. Also I can run Linux along-side Windows via WSL.

Vista. By around the time SP1 was released, the OS was extremely stable and polished. Unfortunately no one wanted to give it another chance.

ME was actually better than XP in terms of its launch, XP RTM/SP1 had awful driver and backwards compatibility with applications, and was very unstable. No one seems to remember the fact XP only really got good with SP2.

win 7 hands down
but for me i can't go back I'm too used win 8/10 interface
but i would go back to 7 it was easy to understand

It's a tie between Windows XP and 7. I absolutely hate 10 with a passion, and I wish I could revert back to 7 but at least I have Ubuntu on this laptop so if I get too frustrated with 10 I'll just boot up in Ubuntu. xD
