What was your Marketing failure?

So you had a plan to market your site and it failed...what happened?

As sort of noted in another thread, the failure is due to lack of money to boost posts on my Facebook page. Anyway, it wouldn't take much money do to what want, but I'm actually that broke now.

Well, not being arrogant, but I know what I'm doing, but I've been in web development since 2010.

I started posting on social media without building an audience. This was one of my earliest marketing mistakes.

I started a local forum to discuss things like events coming up and places to visit and tried to market it offline by using things like flyers and public bulletins. This took quite a bit of time and effort, but it barely made an impact.
