What will the next craze be?

I suspect:

Gaming forums.
RPG forums.
Graphics forums.
Promotion forums will probably come back around.
General discussion forums may come back around.

RPG niche is also quite popular.

Especially on ProBoards. It's ridiculous. A lot of the new features in the upcoming ProBoards V5 have been added to suite RPG forums.

Anyways, I'm thinking graphics forums will be the next big thing.

Yes another person that agrees, lol. Graphics forums are popping up all over now.

You know, people should use these predictions to make forums. Instead of just making it when they please.

RPG forums are popular but have never really gone away... There are tons of them being created. But they're just not well advertised on FP for a variety of reasons. Some of which are:
1- Based on what I've observed from being around here... There isn't really much of an audience for an RP forum here. Most members here don't really care that much for RPs and/or writing (well, stories anyway).

2- Most services on FP, like post packages (either FP, $ or even post exchanges), are virtually useless to most RPs because RPs are fundamentally different. They don't care about number of posts, instead they primarily care about telling a good story. (And from an RPer's perspective, post packages are viewed as dishonest and somewhat offensive.)
The forum battles would also likely be viewed as offensive (pitting 2 sites against each other in direct conflict/comparison? That's a surefire way to create drama in an RP setting.) if not offensive at the very least unnerving or distasteful.

3- FP comes off quite elitist at times. (Whether it means to or not is another matter entirely.) Which is an attitude most RPers find disagreeable and don't want around/to be around. And I've seen members slam forums for not being self-hosted as if that is the only way to run a forum. (It isn't and there are reasons why people don't self-host. Reasons like not everyone has a technical enough background to run a website/forum. Remember some people are not good at all with this sort of stuff, they can barely put a Javascript code in the right place... But they can certainly run an established site if they don't have to worry about technical details. )

4- The idea of monetization. Most RP owners hate focusing on money. (Typically viewing running an RP as a free hobby, not so they can make money.) And they reject practices like putting ads or offering cash (or even real world items like PSN/XBL cards) for prizes. Which contrasts heavily with FP where there is a lot of real life money floating back and forth. (Paid posting, domain/forum selling, etc...)

5- There are much better places out there more geared for RP forums than here. (This is not to knock FP or any sites closely like it. FP certain has benefits to other types of sites, just not so much for RP.)

There are likely more reasons that more RP forums don't advertise here, but I'll stick with these few for now.

Also, proboards is ok for roleplays... (though RPers do tend to view it as rather basic). Recently Jcink Forum Hosting has established itself, for most RPers, as the place to create a site. (If you're unaware of JFH, feel free to google it and learn a bit more about it, you might be pleasantly surprised.)

As for what I think the next big craze will be? I think Gaming will come back in style. Especially with E3 and all the big gaming shows coming up (which often means new game reveals and sometimes hardware info). Plus the holidays are coming and that means plenty of new releases (so lots of sites devoted to them will be opening trying to catch the craze).
