I encountered this question a few days ago. Here are my thoughts regarding this. If I win a lottery, 10% of the money will go to my tithes. Tithing means allocating 10% of your earnings to institutions that help you grow spiritually or bless people. I will give this to charities and church. The next thing I will do is allocate 20% for my family and friends. I will give them a nice treat. The remaining 70% goes to my income generating assets like business, stocks, and mutual funds. This will allow money to consistently grow exponentially so I can afford to fully pay my pending major purchases in the future, grow my savings, and beat inflation as I pursue my dreams.

Delayed gratification is the best practice when you win in a lottery. With this, you will develop the attitude of using money to make more money. Once money is put to an income generating asset, more regular income is produced, which can cover needs, wants, and even dreams later on. It's a lot better to be a millionaire for the rest of your life than to be a one day millionaire.

What will you do if you won a lottery? How will you maximize the prize? Do something fruitful with the prize money and multiply its blessings for a lifetime abundance.

My debt would be gone... that'd be one of the first things I did. After that I'd probably dump as much into my Tax Free Savings Account as I could before I'd be hit with a fee for it. After that I'd buy some stocks in various companies (Disney for certain). Then I'd buy some precious metals.
After that I'd probably buy a nice home for myself (maybe $350,000 to get a pretty good sized house in a nice area).

I'd probably spend some on friends and family at that point. And after that I'd probably keep like three or four thousand out, the rest would be put in an offshore account (maybe Switzerland). This way I still have it, but it's a bit harder to get to. (So I don't spend as much.)

Anyone willing to donate the full amount that's needed badly to some places. Not just homeless shelter but from the aftermath of ab harrucson

I'd most to a state that doesn't charge property tax. Buy the house I want, and buy all the things I never could have. Than I'd retire and live out the rest of my life doing the things I always wanted to do.
