What would you do with these two sites? Revive or sell? Looking for opinions

Hey everyone,

I wanted to get some outside opinions from the community on a couple of projects I’ve had for a while.

I currently have two dead sites in my portfolio :

1. Snipx.net
This project has been inactive for a bit. The concept was to build it out into something more feature-rich (link analytics, tracking, member tools, etc.), but development kind of stalled.

At this point, it would likely need a full redesign, both visually and on the backend to make it modern and easier to manage.

2. RankedTopSites.com
This is a website directory for promoting forums, blogs, and websites. From what I remember, it’s mostly completed, but it needs updates to work properly with the latest versions of PHP.

---

My dilemma:
I’m trying to decide what to do with these:

  • Put time and effort into reviving and improving them
  • Try to sell them as-is or partially completed projects
  • Or just move on entirely and focus on other things

One of my biggest concerns is monetization - I don’t really see a clear or strong way to generate revenue from either site in their current state.

---

What would you do?

If you were in my position:
  • Would you invest time into rebuilding either of these?
  • Which one (if any) has more potential in today’s landscape?
  • Would you try to monetize them, and how?
  • Or would you cut losses and sell?

I’d really appreciate any honest feedback, ideas, or perspectives.

Thanks in advance 🙏

Honestly, if it were me, I’d probably take a step back and look at whether either project still solves a real problem today. If they don’t, I wouldn’t sink a lot of time into rebuilding them.

Snipx might have some potential if it offered something unique compared to existing link shorteners, but that space is already pretty crowded. RankedTopSites feels a bit outdated since traditional web directories aren’t as popular as they used to be.

Personally, I’d either try to sell them as small side projects or keep them parked and move on to something with clearer demand and monetization. Sometimes it’s better to focus energy on a new idea rather than revive something that’s already lost momentum.

I was sort of thinking the same thing as well. I appreciate it
