I like the latest version of Ubuntu 11.10. It starts up in under 30 seconds on my older computer which only has a 1.86 GHz Dual Core Intel CPU, 1 GB DDR2 RAM, 320 GB SATA Hard drive, and onboard intel video. Ubuntu 11.10 runs apps faster then Windows 7 in my experience on my older computer like opening and switching tabs are faster in Firefox 8.
Installing Ubuntu 11.10 is also pretty fast, and simple. It took me about an hour or less.
Ubuntu is also has most apps I usually use like Web Browsers, office programs, video and music player, Open Shot video editor, Gimp image editor, and linux compatible games like Torcs.
The launcher dock on the left can get in the way sometimes, but it is useful since it makes the desktop not as cluttered, and full of icons.
I also like the new AlT-TAB, and animation. The theme looks pretty sleek.
