What you would like to see in a promotion forum.

I was thinking about this the other day, and thought I bet others have ideas too.

These ideas could be for FP or any promotion forum.

Here are a few of my thoughts -

More Unique Ads -

Most Promotion sites have the normal header banner ad,footer text box ad,post bubble ad,and sometimes redirect ads,but that gets old after awhile ...

I think seeing something new and fresh would get me to join a promotion forum faster.

What the new and fresh could be is a good question,but here are a few ideas -

New Member PM ad. This would be a simple ad where each member gets pm a welcome and at the bottom 5-6 text links are there.

So what are your thoughts, how do you think promotion forums in general could improve?

We weren't the first but we were pretty unique in the way we were when we started. All the other promotion forums were on Invisionfree so we tried something different and went with phpBB. That allowed us to have a different feel and allowed us to do some different things.

If a new promotion forum pops up and it doesn't have a package team or review team I'd join up straight away. Every promotion forum has one but thing that is annoying is that people say that theirs in unique and it has a review and package service. Annoys me. An idea would to be to offer something else than reviews and posts. A start up service or something would be good.

No, FP is not the mother forum of all promotion forums.

FP doesn't even have unique services if you consider the break down of each service. Eg. packages have been on the Internet for quite a while now; reviews simply are reviews - been around for centuries; and all the image ads are what ad providers provide. Also consider classified ads forums, which are essentially the beginning of promotion on the Internet.

FP just executes them more efficiently and successfully than most modern promotion forums.

I think people do have that, but they end up going the wrong way about it. They tend to have this creative idea, but have the feeling they must include a generic thing, and forget about the creative idea as it probably isn't working as well.

Because they model FP because they think it is how a promotion forum should look.

Yeah, pretty much. There isn't a set definition as to what a promotion forum should look like.

Based on what I have seen so far, I would agree with Kaiser.
But what I would really like to see is more people joining the advertised forums and participating in said forums
