Hi all, well I've been asking around in some Facebook groups and found out that the 8,000 Pages (and Counting) may perhaps be the problem why my wordpress blog/site is loading awfully slow in the back-end part.

Now I am planning on what it was suggested to me, which was to create sub-domains so that I can break up these PGs up to relieve this issue, but where I am right now, is wondering if wordpress is even good for website building projects like 8,000 PGs. I have been told that I shouldn't even have that many pages, I should stick with posts, after all wordpress is a "Blog Software", and I can't see anywhere (other than 8K+ pages) why my Wordpress is so slow.

This is why I've came to think that I need to find an new website builder, because firstly I am building a gaming site full of gaming cheats tips codes and what not, and I think having pages instead of posts will be much easier for me to maintain, which goes against what it was suggested to me about wordpress.

Secondly, although I am going to break these 8,000 PGs of Gaming info apart using sub-domains, it will be a growing project, so I am uncertain if any of these sub-domains will grow over like 1 to 2 thousand PGs of not more themselves.

Hence why I am looking for a new website builder, that is as easy to use like Wordpress (but for websites not blogging) and has been tested for heavy/large projects like what I'm doing here. So any suggestions for free website builders for registered domains?

Not sure if this is much help, but I've used http://www.weebly.com (I think that's right) and I had fun working with that. Decent sites that involve Cpanels, that I'm not sure on.

Thanks Smitty, I'll check that out, I'll be setting up a sub-domain just to experiment with it.

I'll go try out Jooma which someone of FaceBook suggested to me, unsure what would of a great platform that can handle huge amounts of pages though. Hope one of these will do just fine.

Well, again, I'm not sure if that's the correct link... been a while since I've played around with it, but when I did work with it I liked it and had a lot of fun with it. The site at the time didn't go ahead as planned, as my co-admins back then talked me out of it (just as well) but I had a blast with it though.

Edit: Just tried the link and that WAS the correct one... I'm such a dork sometimes, but that is the correct link.

Lol I know how that feels to be a Dork like that at times, Weebly was really easy to use I really like it, my only prob is that it needs my billing info for publishing it on a domain, the thing is that that I've already got domain and I wanted to publish it on a sub-domain, Weebly reminds me of Webs.com in that way.

I've also checked that Jooma thing that was suggested to me on FB, was a little more complicated than Weebly. I've started fiddling around with CamelBack's LiveSite, which was suggested after playing around those 2 platforms. I think I may be choosing this one I think, going to play around this one a little more before deciding.

Yeah, it's always good to do some research and screw around with different ones BEFORE going with something official. This is one tidbit I wish I knew when I first started trying to run forums back in 2008... instead of jumping for the first host that came up on the search engine listings, I should've looked around the host I was thinking of, read customer/client reviews etc, before jumping head first only to realize it was a bad decision from the get-go. So yeah, it's definitely a good idea to shop around and play around with different ones before deciding.

I think thats one thing I've kinda overlooked with WordPress, they were truthful of all what I've read as for being a great platform for bloggers, but the catch I've kinda skipped is that its a "Blogging Software", hence why I think my wordpress screwed up on me cuz I was using it as a Website Builder Instead of using it or Blogging purposes, and so after creating over 8,000 Pages (Not Posts), I think from there Wordpress couldn't handle the amount of data I've published.

So ya doing research on which platforms which is better (or anything that is better in that matter) could be a little tricky, especially with huge projects in mind. At least what I've done wasn't a Complete "lost", since the site loads fine I think as for vistors, and having the ability to move it to a new link so I could restart it again with out losing the work I've did all last year.

I like and suggest you try moon fruit they are a great builder and offer ready built templates.

Yeah, Wix and Weebly are the ones I have previously used. Both are quite good 😀

Have you tried the WP Super Cache plugin? That should help speed your site up. Failing that transfer to a dedicated server if you haven't already (cost permitting).
