What's less work Mybb Or PhpBB

Well, I'm deciding on the software I wann use next for a new forum i'm planning...

Ive already use phpBB, but it seems really confusing (cPanel wise & installing stuff) but i'm not very in-touch with Mybb, but I hear it's easier.

Is that true?

For beginners go with MyBB. When I first used phpBB and hated it then I went back and learned it all and finally mastered it. I would learn it if I were you.

Both require cPanel for installing stuff etc. Though MyBB is just an upload process and activate/install the plugin in plugin manager. But when wanting to customize a MyBB plugin it can get a bit annoying.

lol. I don't think you have ever tried it. I had used phpBB for 2 years and MyBB for more than an year.
phpBB's installation is nothing easier than MyBB.

Also, customizing a plugin or theme is easier in MyBB, than phpBB. MyBB's plugin files uses hooks, rather than long code edits like phpBB. So, its a piece of cake for customization.
Also, the next major version MyBB 2.0 is going to have separate folder for each plugins inside plugin folder. So, you never have to worry where the plugin files are located.

MyBB is alot easier then phpbb. Try it on a test forum and see for yourself 🙂.

MyBB is easier in my opinion although I still prefer phpBB but as NBK*Twitch suggested, tr them both out. See how easier they are to install, add plugins/mods and general settings etc and then decide what to go with. Everyone has different opinions and you should go with the one that is best for you and the one you feel most comfortable with as you are going to be the one using it the most.

MyBB is much easier compared to phpBB. Both are pretty easy to get around and learn though.

Both require lots of work, if you think about it. Takes quite the effort to make a forum look exactly like what you want it to look like.

That said, MyBB has a plugin system, while phpBB is still on file edits. Well, that is, until 3.1 comes out, whenever that is (almost four-five years now that phpBB 3.0 went gold, if I'm not mistaken).

The more plugins you want to use, the more you lean towards MyBB. If you're not using any plugins it's just personal preference.
