Who do you think is not attractive to see on a forum. For me, I think that seeing the admin having over half the posts on the whole forum, and replied to every single last topic, so it shows that every last topic is showed by the admin. We know you want posts, but g-d is it annoying when you post in every single dam topic *cough Graphics Hall cough*.

I know some of you will flame, that's why I put this topic up to see what you guys think. If you want to flame me on what I think, then please just don't post, because I'd rather not hear it.

That really doesn't have anything to do with "attractiveness" though........ 🙂

But while you are on the topic, if an Admin doesn't care enough about his/her forum to try to respond to as many threads as possible then he/she shouldn't be and Admin to begin with.

When you are trying to grow a forum, you should be in on as many threads as you can. In time that will change, but you can't expect a newer forum to have enough members to populate all of the threads.

You can't have one admin making all the posts. And in my opinion that has something to do with attractiveness. 😛

There's no need for this. I tend to reply to every topic on my forum, are you going to say to me that my forum annoys you? Most people like Admins joining in on topics as it shows they care and want to get involved with the members.

Anyway things like an ugly skin, poor layout and lack of posts make for an unattractive forum - not Admins reply to every topic.

I dont like messy forums they should be clean and i hate seeing spam on forums

What I mean is when in the index forum. Every last topic shown in each forum was last posted by the Admin.

Ah now I understand what you mean. Yes that does look off-putting.

Sorry for the confusion ~redface~

Forums that make you sign up aka you cant see nothing as guests i hate that and usually never sign up unless i know i need to -redface- -😉-

When the forum is, say, a gaming forum and their gaming section has tumbleweed rolling about and the general discussion is teeming.

I.e. when the main topic areas aren't used and the forum is just a gen. discussion forum in disguise.

Well with a newer forum you have to expect that the admin is going to have alot of the posts. Once you hit 1,000 it shouldnt be like that. If it still is then, that when its a put off for me. Any lower of a post count and I think the admin just cares, which is a good thing -😉-

The things i hate to see it a very large banner that you need to scroll past to start seeing the forum, chatboxs or chatrooms on the forum index page, loads of admins on a small site, a site where all the members are staff or a forum that uses the softwares default style.

I agree with the default skin thing Fowler said. If you leave it default, or use anything default really, it appears that you havnt put much work into the site and your either lazy or a newbie admin. Neither of those things are good to have people thinking about you.

Yeah the default skin is not just about the appearence. Most default skins look crap anyway but it is more about how people see forums that use the default skin... Especially if they have the default logo for the skin also.

Huge Advertisements that do not relate to the forums' discussions.

Unwanted pop-up and pop unders also are annoying.

I agree. It seems Advertisements cause the most problems for me. If it is there, I will see it, and I do not know why companies think it they make it pop down, it will make me want to click on. I rarely click on them, unless it is a promotional site I can trust.

I agree with the pop-ups and large adverts. I particularly get annoyed by those stupid talking ads!
