Hey there all,

I wanted some advice on promoting my forum, I have started right here and as we are a gaming forum i have done it via the xbox forums too.. But I would like advice on where I can mention my site and where I would be able to back link my site to help with my SEO and page ranking?

Any help you can offer here would be greatly appreciated!

Kindest regards,
Paul

Alright here are 10 quick ways that you can get your forum started.

> Promote it on as many forums as possible and keep updating thos topics ever 24 hours or so 🙂.

> Submit news updates to the news bulletin/update sections regularly to keep people interested.

> Put your link/image in your signature and stay active so people see your link.

> Promote you site over social networks such as twitter and facebook.

> Participate in post exchanges with other members to gain activity.

> Submit your forum to web directories and link directories to gain backlinks and traffic.

> Add your link to topsites and regularly vote to gain higher ranking on the toplists.

> Post quality guides and services on other sites and link them back to your site.

> Post articles in article sites/directories to gain backlinks and traffic.

🙂

Find active gaming forums, become a regular member and have an advert in your sig.

Purchase advertising on gaming forums, active ones.

Most forums worth having backlinks from (sigs etc😉 will be no-follow.

I shouldn't use sigs? But backlinks cost money.

What are backlinks, and I thought spammers used those, though I suppose good things can be corrupted by the Dark Side.

Still, this new forum I'm a member at has a TLD, has Facebook and Twitter, is being promoted here at FP by me, yet never seems to be getting any new members.

Why is that?

It might be because they made too many boards and it might look a little desolate, despite being less than 2 weeks old anyway.

We still have nearly 200 posts, though several are new member introductions.

We don't have people on staff or here that know about some of the types of programming we're trying to offer help on.

If we had more members, we could fix that though.

You could always find active gaming blogs, and tell them that you will write them an article, as long as you can put your link on the bottom of the article. Also known as guest posting. Very effective for traffic and SEO.
