Technically Reddit, but I don't consider that a real forum, so that would make Gaia Online the largest, IIRC.

Yep 2,479,851,858 posts...I'd say it's a safe bet they're still #1 🙂

The largest site advertised as a 'forum' to date is HackForums unfortunately... I used to go on there a long time ago but not to date. The owner makes tons of money off that site. However, it's to say that forums have branched off into social media sites and even sites like Reddit that you could consider a forum.

HackForums is huge, but larger than Gaia? I'm not sure.

Yep, it's been the largest on record for at least a decade, over 2 billion posts. Gaia's a beast of a forum, lol.

Technically, yes, though I question if there's a single line of phpBB2 code left in that site. It's like SomethingAwful technically running vBulletin 2, it really ISN'T vB2 anymore 😀

Yeah, they've obviously customized it so heavily that it probably has only a small amount of original code left from phpBB2; however, you can still kind of tell that it's based on phpBB2 from the viewforum page. It looks very distinctly like phpBB2. 😛

It absolutely does, I won't deny that, lol, but it's hard to really call it phpBB2 anymore even with that 😀

Oh 100%! Anyone running actual phpBB2 would be out of their mind to do so. Not just because of phpBB2 being a security risk, but because of how dated php and mysql/mariadb would need to be to still run phpBB2!

There was a team here that was dedicated to maintaining phpBB2 and making it compatible with recent versions of PHP; however, it appears that they have not updated their unofficial phpBB2 release for several years. It was still an interesting idea.

Yeah, looks like they finally gave up on releases, shame, it'd be interesting to see people still running phpBB2 in a secure way

It sure is, thankfully the copy Gaia runs is essentially only phpBB in name. They've effectively rewritten every line of code in their version to make it shut their needs

It's a decent size, definitely. Largest? Very hard to say.

LCPDFR, such a fun mod, and to see just how many RP communities are out there thanks to LCPDFR (and FiveM) is incredible!
