Engagement on social media begins with knowing which channels the community is most active and then developing content that will be interesting to the targeted audience.

To advertise your forum and its content, make sure you use great pictures, good headlines, and short descriptions. Hashtags should also be used as well to gain better exposure. Yeah! You're absolutely right. You need to look for where your target audience found relaxing. Is it Facebook, Instagram or X? Then, what kind of discussion are they interested in? This will let you tailor your content to meet their needs.

Engaging with the community and being an active contributor are key to building your reputation on social media and becoming a well-known figure.

Additionally, you can share your forum’s content using relevant hashtags. Once users become familiar with your name, they are more likely to share and like the content you post, making this one of the most effective strategies.

The problem that most community owners face is that no one sees their promotional links.

There are many reasons for this. Chances are that the main reason is because they just use social media to promote their link and do nothing else with it. The other reason is they don't have a following on there.

Social media is not a promotion/marketing tactic that works out of the box.

If you can't commit to it, you'll lose at it.

Social media algorithms are always going to be against you when posting external links. You're better off building a community around your brand and developing your reputation on the platform. Once you do that, earn a following, and build a loyal community - you'll start noticing how easier it is to convert your followers into community members.

It took me about 4 years of consistently posting on Facebook every day before I build a page up. Now I have around 22K followers. When I post a promotional link to my forum, I usually get a few new members.

Social media and any marketing channel take commitment otherwise it will not work.
