Aside from mobile gadgets, what do you hear about upcoming trends in computers for 2018? Mobile apps are on the upsurge in popularity against computer browsers and email apps are also in stride. But for the hardware, I don't see anything new except the SSD - solid state drive - that is still lagging behind in computer storage, HDD is still the number 1.

SSD IS number one now! O mean they been around for years now and over time they have improved it and also the price has dropped.

They are now selling motherboards with SSD built into them.

Nowadays, almost all companies focus on developing mobile technologies. About the computer technology, I found almost nothing new.

That's nice to hear because we have been planning to buy a big SSD for our main backup storage, that's aside from the present HDD that we are using as archive. So in case something happens to the HDD then there's another backup in the SSD. And I'm glad to know that the cost of SSD has gone down, hoping that it will be on the level with the cost of HDD. I wonder how those computers with built in SSD are performing.

I feel that the primary focus has been on mobile technologies, everything is optimised or focused around mobile platforms opposed to desktop platforms which makes things responsive and easy to use, but is a shame to see as a desktop fan myself.

I have heard VR has been an industry much developed this year too so maybe we'll see more of this in 2018
