Whats your opnion on copied pasted content?

Well, if you wrote it yourself, then it is freely yours to place where-ever you wish. In a promotion directory you a mainly advertising your site, so if you wrote a blurb about your site, you don't want to have to change it for every site that you post it on. Obviously your replies will be different with different people posting replies to the original topic, but copying your own advertising thread from one place to another should really be perfectly ok

Maybe, I am not sure. As long as the entire topic is not identical, which it shouldn't be, then I personally IMO don't see any issue. But that is me, not you or anyone else

-- 30 Oct 2014, 22:37 --

I did this a lot for sites that weren't my main objective/project , it worked out good not great but good enough. It might be that a unique thread would get more seo juice but for my limited time copy paste was the only option 🙂

Yes and no. If they are taking entire blocks of text and posting it as their own page, then yes Google will bump them down. However, there is more to it than just that.

Google will look to see which text was indexed first, the copier will be penalized.

However, if it's one ad on a big long list of pages, it likely won't even be picked up by Google. A lot of text will have overlaps, especially among common themes. If it's not the bulk of a page that is exactly the same as another page, it will just be seen as a quote instead of plagiarized content.

Isn't it illegal to copy and paste forum content to other forums? I've heard of forums getting shut down because of things like that.

Well, if it is wrote by you, you have every right to use it as many times as you wish. It's not plagiarism so why would anyone care?
