If you go to a major art or photographic gallery, you can see loads of paintings and photo's of naked women and men in various sometimes graphic poses, and people look at it and call it "Art", no age requirement to see it.

Yet put those same pictures in a glossy magazine, on the top shelf of a newsagents and they are considered pornographic.
It comes wrapped in plastic bag, well out of the sight of young eyes.

Yet those young eyes the day before were wandering around a gallery, looking at the same pictures in the name of art.

So what turns pornography into art, and vice versa

Any nudity is pornographic, we cant judge what young children view or sense what they see. Best to stay away from such nonsense.

Wow, might as well say any black person is a thief, any women is promiscuous, or any man is a rapist. People who view nudity as pornography are ashamed of their own bodies and as such those of others. Its amazing that people still think this way in the 21st century but its the way some people are; same reason cracker barrell has to train its employees to know how to serve non-whites.

But to answer the question, pornography exists only to excite. There's nothing erotic about a naked human body by itself, there's much more to it. I feel sorry for anyone whose perversions are so strong that they view all nudity as pornographic.

Any and all nudity is considered pornographic, but it's not really a bad influence. It's just the human body, and people have to learn it eventually, and it's not wrong to start learning at a younger age, as long as you're not six years old or something ridiculously young like that. Anything considered a bad influence really doesn't make any sense to me.

So you are saying that the great masters like Gainsborough were pornographers of their time, and we should look on these paintings as pornography, and remove them from public display.

In what society is any nudity considered pornography? Are visits to the doctor something pornographic now? Madness

Porn is where there is sexual interaction. Art is just exposing the body in it's beautiful, Believe it or not (this is coming from an art student) The body is quite the beautiful thing.

You also have to look at the context of the images.

If there are pictures of naked women in a magazine for men, most likely porn.
But if its an art magazine or in an art gallery its art and not porn.

Art is very subjective, that's why there are always people complaining about things because they think its pron/bad whereas other might think its art.

Someone posted a picture of two llamas having sex on my forum and claimed it to be "art".

Well said. I agree completely.

Also, art doesn't have money shots. Porn does.

Doesn't matter, anyone can interpret any kind of "porn shot" into a sexual fantasy or innuendo.

Its a forum for administrators.

I think art of a naked man or woman is if it's done in a non sexual way; but if it gets really sexual... then it may be more of porn than art.

You realize that someone clothed can emit just as much, if not more sexuality than a nude body? In any case, what is so wrong with sexuality? Its a necessary component of life.

No, I do not. It's art, art and pornography are alike somewhat but there is still large difference. Think about it. Porn is a bad thing, but art isn't. Starting off, it isn't in real form. It just makes the person smarter about the human body, I don't even know why it isn't allowed for "younger" people. Nudity is pornographic, but nudity isn't a bad thing because the human body is a good thing to be intelligent about. Look at jncocontrols's post:

I am in total agreement, I've always frowned upon the rules of life.

I also agree with this. I think the line between art and pornography is very easy to see. Pornography is nudity and sexual actions that are expressed solely to excite and entice sexual fullfillment and pleasure, whereas art is a form of media usually created to express opinions and/or emotions and feelings, or to entertain.

Agree with this big time 🙂

As a heterosexual male, watching the Olympics confirms this.
